31 000 Metallica tickets sold out in 45 mins

Hell yeah, true story!

Metallica are visiting my hometown; Stockholm, july 12th and all 31 000 tickets sold out in about 45 minutes. I was lucky as hell to get hold of two standing tickets. Our ticketmaster website; ticnet.se got over charged and so did the phone lines. The only way to get tickets were to stand in line outside of the ticketmaster office. VERY many fans got disappointed and didn't get any tickets at all, 'cause people had been queing for days, I ain't kidding! I was there about 1 and a half h before the tickets were released; and as I said; I was just pure lucky to even get tickets. At first it seemed like it was all sold out, when I finally my turn to buy, then all of a sudden they found 2 standing tickets. I mean, those stuff just doesn't happen to you!

The tickets were released 09:00 AM, it was sold out 09:45 AM. And I bought my tickets 09:45 AM. Which means I was problably the last one to get standing tickets, maybe the last one to even get tickets, who knows. People will travel from all over the country for this show. It'll be my second Metallica show, first one in Stockholm though.

WOW! Congrats for snagging your tickets, though. Some guy on Metclub named the tour: Sick of the Studio 07 . I hope they tour in the U.S. this year. I need some live Metallica!

The most expensive; (best seats) were 99.22 USD and the cheapest; (worst seats) were 63.78 USD. The standing tickets, (which I bought), were 77.96 USD.

Not too hideous. I think I paid $75 for the floor the last time I saw them, in '05.

Nah, Metallica could charge much more and still sell out in no time! Like my friend say; "it might be expensive for the fans, not for the arrangers", you know, with all the pyro, etc. I paid $135 for seat tickets when I saw U2 here in '05. And those were just "normal" seat tickets. I think the charged $135 for standing tickets as well. But hey; it was an AMAZING show, U2 even gave us "Party Girl", a song they only, (ONLY), play in Dublin. But it was such an good show they thought they should give us something extra.

I know what you mean, Lith. Metallica's a band I'd pay just about anything to see. I did the same for U2 as well when they came to the States...btw, Linda (njcreedite) says hi and that you should e-mail her when you get a chance .

Oh, sure thing. I just don't think I have her email anymore. Thought of her for the first time in a really long time a couple of days ago. Long time no... Write... I guess.

I'm hopefully gonna get hold of 2 tickets for Metallica's July 8th Wembley show. Seen them last year at the Download Festival and they were great,

Lith did you enjoy the show?
The London Wembley show was immense.
Support came from Mastodon, HIM & Machine Head

Re: 31 000 Metallica tickets sold out in 45 mins

Only HIM opened in Stockholm... To see HIM was the worst concert experience EVER!!! They sucked more than I thought anything could suck. When you get to open for Metallica you expect a band with some class. This was... Horrible! Worse than a school band, I'm not kidding! The singer sang the entire gig with eyes closed and his hands in his pockets.

Howeeeveeeeer... Metallica was of course fucking awesome! I stood 20-30 yards from the stage, in the middle. It was INTENSE!!!! Worth the 10 hour wait in line!! Even with a cold! (I was sooo sick for a couple of days after the show - but I'd never miss Metallica!)
