why do you think theyre second rate?

Maybe because he feels that writing quality songs is harder than playing other people's songs?

Ding Ding! Anyone who's tried writing songs would know that. A band solely playing others' stuff doesn't impress me and makes me think less of them. |

Thats the exact thing I think is wrong with cover bands. I feel its a terribly way of getting noticed.
