Re: Atheists aren't all bad

^The "fool" label refers to spiritual foolishness.(imo) Since Biblical spirituality isn't an issue for athiests, there's nothing on your behalf in need of defence.

Sorry for coming off so abrasive in that last thread. I felt provoked and I lost my cool

I personaly don't think athiests are bad. I might say mislead, but that's probably how you(Lunar) feel about me

Mislead in some ways but ya know it is a journey I can not walk for you....

Yeah thinkgs can get heated it happens I know I have said some things on this board that I wish I hadn't and I have come across as an ass hole but it does happen when things get a little heated or intese. (no worries)

but the movie is not in defense of it was more made as food for thought. and the "fool" reference I think is open to interpretation (imo)

Re: Atheists aren't all bad

Interesting. I did not know that Marie Curie was an atheist. I'm not sure
what the point was in naming all those Hollywood actors was... But I
guess they had to fill 5 1/2 minutes.

True, nobody's perfect and life is a struggle for anyone, notwithstanding
that very many "theists" in the US are not nessecarily Christian, or agree
with that one Bible verse. It was a little silly to name all those people,
under the pretense that they were not "fools", because that verse could
easily have been interperated the way that eusebioCBR (and myself)
interpreted it. Atheists, I find, tend to be extremely literal alot of the
time.

Overall, though, it was interesting to watch, even though it did kind
of attack Christianity (and George Bush, lol) in a passive-aggressive
way, but I guess I can understand why, if all those quotes at the
beginning were true.

Re: Atheists aren't all bad

^^ Well I know the GHW Bush Quote is true I remember the speech which he said it.

as far as the interpretation of "fool" wel... it is open... I know the guy who did this video was a former fundy christian wich may explain the literal interpretation of "fool". I personally think that it can be taken either way (literally or in the way that you and eusebio contend it to be.) As far as Atheist being literal when looking at the bible I think that is a unjustified blanketed statment. regardless it really depends on the school of thought you come from but beyond that the question is bound to come up "What do you take literally and what do you take figuretivly?" I have see almost every verse taken both ways and heard good arguments for both but then it comes down to "How much of the bible actually has to be literal until you chuck out as the word of god?" because if it is all figureitive then what/how is to be taken seriously? theses are honest questions people need to ask themselves.

as far as naming all the actors??? well I think it was to illistrate a point that there are many high profile atheists... I mean how many times do you hear the Christians tout their celebraties (C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolken, Kevin Smith, Mel Gibson, Mandy Moore, Gary Busey, Robert Duvall to name a few) So that is the only explaination I can give you of why He put the actors in there.
