Gay / Lesbian Weddings
What do you guys think about all the gay/lesbian weddings that are now getting legalized?
Personally, I think that two girls shouldn't turn to each other without giving me a chance. However, after giving me a chance, well... that's a different story. And the thought of two guys together is just gross. H-D

It's just WRONG!!! It's sick too, I mean if God wanted people to marry other people of the same sex, he would have made it that way. I have respect for gay/lesbian people, but having a wedding is just carrying it too far!

Personally I don't care about peoples' sexual preferences, but I firmly believe in marriage being between a man and woman. I support the efferts President Bush is taking to ammend the constitution to define marriage as being between a man and woman. My state, Wisconsin, just passed a bill that would define marriage as being between a man and woman in our state constitution. It now moves on to other parts of state government before actually being put on the governor's desk to be signed into law. I'm hoping that gets taken care of.

My opinion is that gays/lesbians have the right to suffer from marriage just as much as we heterosexuals do!

I am all for gay marriges.
a) When they are married they get different tax breaks and rights than civil unions, first of all, and two gay peopel who live liek family should be treated like one in the eye of govornment. b) "God says..." argument is invalid because there is separation of church and state in this country. Why should gay non-Christian couple be dicated when they can or cannot die based on the book that they find to be irrlevant? c) I think gay people get enough bullshit from this world already, and passing anti gay marrige law is, really, just another form of gay bashing. d) If you want people to accept YOU for who you are, you should accept them for what they are. Treat others how you would like to be treated yourself, right? People alwasy talk abotu how diverse and accepting this country is, and yet people seem to have problem accepting and give same rights to people who differ from them just based on who they prefere to sleep with.

Well...I'm 100% against gay marriages. God didnt want it to be that way. If you dont want to hear the "God says..." part, then think of it this way, a man and a woman can have sex and have kids, so it works out. But two men or two women cant have sex and produce kids, so that tells me that homosexuality isn't right, because if it was, then obviously gays could physically have kids. Another thing is that it is just plain gross

There are a lot of heterosexual couples nowadays who couldn't have kids either... what do you think of them? Are they cursed or what? Are they going to hell because they have sex but doesn't "produce" any kids???
Boy you better read point D from Lechium's post again! Although point B wasn't that bad either You know what I think of homosexuality?? It's a natural kind of birthcontrol because the world gets overpopulated... It's nature's reaction!(Oh man I wish I could write the things in my head in straight Dutch right now LOL!! Can't find the right english words for a lot of things ) Lech you're post is outstanding!!!!!

hold on a second. i never said that heterosexual couples who cant have kids were cursed and going to hell. I have deep sympathy for those couples, i would be devastated to know that i couldnt have kids. And I never said anything even remotely close to anything about heterosexuals who couldnt have kids in that post. |

Just curious, what about those people who don't believe in marriage and simply live together as family (Oprah comes to mind as one who everyone would recognize)?
See the link below. As if other "groups" of people don't face bullshit? Read this: http://www.joeuser.com/index.asp?AID=6825 This pretty much sums up my opinion on this.

I say live and let live. They aren't hurting me or anyone else. If they love each other and want to be in a committed relationship, what is the harm? I am not getting into a religious debate about this.

Well said, Lechium.
Steve, I read that link and it seems a bit contradictory. In one breath he says respect the traditions of the super-majority and in another he says protect the rights of the minority. So, does that mean the traditions of the super-majority (slavery comes to mind) should be respected when they are out and out wrong? I don't buy that guy's arguments at all. That would leave the super-majority to determine the rights of the minority without regard to what the minority wants. Sounds like oppression to me.

In the link, I was referring more to the point that marriage is a tradition that surpases religion and that it should be respected as such.
