An Open Letter to Wind-Up Entertainment.

To Whom It May Concern,

I am posting here because I was a Creed fan. Like millions of others (as the album sales could prove), I thought they were one of the greatest rock and roll bands of the era, catapulting rock music back into prominence. Creed was, and always will be, a part of music history, and will always be remembered by countless fans.

However, those days are over. Creed is no more. The band members have split their separate ways, and according to a number of interviews with guitarist Mark Tremonti and drummer Scott Phillips, those days -- the days of Creed -- are over.

So, please, just let it go. Stop milking the cow. Do not force Scott Stapp to continue the "Creed sound" because you think it is the most marketable. It's not working. Because of your label's greedy ways, Alter Bridge jumped ship -- and are doing just fine.

We fans (who are left) do not appreciate your way of handling the Creed memory. We want to still love our old favorite band. However, the cash cow is out of milk. Just let it go.

Thanks,
Andrew Brandt

Good letter. Stapp needs to move on and shake up his music. If he doesn't do anything too radical, fine. He shouldn't do anything that he's not comfortable with, or has no skill at doing. But Wind Up needs to let him explore his musical potential more.

Sadly, record labels, at least the bigger ones, aren't interested in artistic exploration. I wish it were so.

I concur. Good message from Andrew, maybe he could set up an online petition and get all of us & people from other boards to sign on. Having heard music by The Tea Party, I think it would've been cool if he would've stayed hooked up with them (I think the reason they gave was something to the effect of "he's got issues to work out by himself"). And not if they would've adopted his style, but more if he would've conformed to them. It's not wildly popular stuff, but it's intricate & makes you think, and I respect that in music.

Just listen to Edgewater's song "Digging for Sounds" from their album We're Not Robots. It's their first album after splitting from WU. If you don't think that's a blatant slap in WU's face, someone needs to knock some sense into you over the head, preferably with a shovel or some other blunt object, like a baby grand.

They said we were too loud
So calm down, or just go away
'Cause we've got something to say

We're not robots
More like astronauts
We're not programmed
We make choices

Nod your head
Raise your hands, if you can
If you can feel me
Dig in and get into the feeling
We're digging for life
We're digging for love
Dig in and get into the feeling of ...

Digging for sounds that'll take us
To a place we've never known
And if you're not down, just you stay calm
'Cause you've got your radio

We started feeling the wave
We played all of the games
Don't need the fortune and fame
'Cause we've got something to say

We're not robots
More like astronauts
We're not programmed
We make choices

Nod your head
Raise your hands, if you can
If you can feel me
Dig in and get into the feeling of ...

Digging for sounds that'll take us
To a place we've never known
And if you're not down, just you stay calm
'Cause you've got your radio

Digging for sounds that'll shape us
To a name we call our own
If you're not down, just you stay calm
'Cause you've got your radio

What's controlling us?
Who's controlling us?
We're controlling us
Only us

Digging for sounds that'll shape us
To a name we call our own
If you're not down, just you stay calm
'Cause you've got your radio
