Corgan's solo debut
Rolling Stone reports: "This is your chance for immortality," Billy Corgan told a sold-out hometown crowd Monday night at the Metro in Chicago before encouraging crowd members to sing along to a folksy chorus. "Your part is very simple, but, as you know, I have a tyrannical reputation," he said, joshing with fans and friends who assembled to an experience a quiet, acoustic evening.
Performing his first-ever solo concert, Corgan unveiled a low-key twelve-song-cycle of Chicago-themed songs (plus a three-song encore) along with his understated sense of humor. The ninety-minute set included two encores and Corgan performed all unreleased material. The show was also recorded for a DVD to ostensibly accompany a solo album he is preparing to release later this year. |

Not surprising he's going solo. His bands bomb (especially Zwan), and I've never been a fan of his voice.

The Smashing Pumpkins were awsome. I wasn't a big fan of their later stuff, but Siamese Dream is one of my favorite cds...

Steve is right, Higher Desire if I was a mod I would have kicked you for that comment you ignorant fool! j/k Machina might not have being that great but Siamese Dreaam and the like was great. Zwan was too nice, Billy should never be nice but the Pumpkins (which was Billy BTW) ruled. Billy solo should be preddy good. He isn't the greatest singer to have walked the face of the earth but he can write a great song in his sleep. |

Corgan admits he sucks as a vocalist. He's said in interviews something like "I don't know why people like us. I can't sing." It's Corgan's voice that made the Pumpkins unique!

Billy has never being Cornell but his voice is unique. perhaps they would have being a better band if they had a better vocalist but then they would have lost that unique sound. higher desire you are on probation for that comment! |
