I think your interpretation is great, mysacrifice411. What you wrote makes a lot of sense to me.
And facelessman, I'm with souldancer and hotforscott, any guy who would want to sing me a song is a plus in my book.

heh... I did OLP's Somewhere Out There on the piano at Houston's fanciest mall. she said she wished she knew how to play the piano. so i walked up there with her and started playing. i had her in tears before the first chorus... I rule, you suck

I still think it is about the fans. About those crazed stalker fans perhaps. "Your eyes stare at me in the dark/And I hope those eyes don't steal my freedom" It makes a lot of sense to me. Also, "If I didn't give it all/When I stood you made me crawl" one word comes to mind... *Chicago*

I think its about the fans.
I had no idea what i thought it meant for ages, but then the line, "If you never heard the song, then i could still hide down behind the wall." That line made me think. i think he is saying that now that he is famous, its not what he thought it would be like, he wants his freedom back. And the chorus 'your eyes stare at me in the dark, i hope those eyes dont steal my freedom.' The eyes possibly the fans looking at him in a concert, and he doesnt want them to take his freedom away, it makes sense, i remember reading someones song meaning, which is along the same lines as what i thought, think it was the australian site, creedprision. I dont know. But it makes a lot of sense to me.

I've read that TWIMC is actually a song Scott wrote for the fans. "your eyes"=those of the fans; if you go through and read each line carefully (or listen) it would appear he's singing about the difficult task of remaining himself, true and unchanged, despite the pressures provided by fans, music critics, etc... hence the "... eyes don't steal my freedom". If memory serves me correctly, I read this in a quote (or a quote of a quote) attributed to Scott.

Scott mentiond at the 9-22-02 show that Stand here with me was for the fans, but I have never heard that To Whom it may concern is about the fans. Where did you hear that, or where did you read that? I never really thought of it that way, but I will have to listen to it again and see if I see the points you mentioned above. I think it's neat to see the different ways the songs are interpreted. I am sure the band enjoys hearing all of the different views as well.

Don't quite remember where, but I wanna say it may have been somewhere on Creednet.com (which, obviously, was before Weathered and, consequently, Stand Here With Me, were released); like in an exclusive interview posted on the website. Now that I think about it, it was shortly after the TWIMC MP3 was released on Creednet.com and, in the interview (one in which fans got to ask questions), someone asked the meaning of the song. I'm pretty sure that's what it is.
