"Why don't you and I"- Question??

Ok, there are two version to this song "Why don't you and I" featuring Carlos Santana. Vocals by Chad Kroeger and vocals by Alex Band from the calling. Why? Any reason? I have to believe everytime I have heard it on the radio it was Chad Kroeger. At least that is what I thought until I went over to Vh1 and heard Alex's version. I couldn't believe how they sounded alike. Do they play both versions on the radio? And is this song on Nickelback's new cd Long Road?? I hope so I really like this song. One more question, did the rest of Nickelback record on this song with Santana or just Chad on vocals??

Are you sure its not a different song with Alex Band of The Calling?

if you heard it on the radio, then it's the version of the guy from The Calling

the version on the Santana cd is Chad Kroeger

the reason for this is, Nickelback's label didn't want it released as a single, so they (whatever label Santana is on) had the guy from The Calling, rerecord it to release as a single

"Then Kroeger's label refused to let Santana release the Kroeger-fronted cheese-pop cut "Why Don't You & I" as a single, spurring the guitar hero to hire the Calling's Alex Band to re-record the vocals."

that's from an MTV article

Actually, many radio stations are still playing the version with Chad Kroeger anyways. The issue with RoadRunner Records not letting them release the version with Chad has to do with the single. The video and the single released has Alex Band on it. Radio, however, can still play the other version if they wish. It is on the original Santana CD.

I can tell the difference between the two. Many however say the versions sound the same, but I can hear a distinct difference between Chad's and Alex's voices?!?!?!

The Calling sucks. Period.

And this new version of the song is so poor near Chad's...

The only version that I have heard on the radio is from The Calling's lead singer. I have to say that I really don't like that song. I think it probably would have sounded much MUCH better with Kroeger's voice on the radio instead. I guess why they didn't release it was maybe because the radio stations would be playing a new Nickelback song and they didn't want people to get sick of his voice. That was just what I heard though.

Thanks guys... Right after I posted this thread, that morning on the way home from work the song was on the radio and the DJ said that is Chad from Nickelback with Santana. So, that is the version they play here. The first time I heard the song I said that has to be Nickelback. Well, I was half way right. Then as I listened to the song more I knew that had to be Santana as well. But, then I heard about the two versions. And I knew Nickelback had the new release "Someday". SO I'm just a little confused why they would want to release the two songs at the same time, because here "Why don't you and I" gets alot more radio play than "Someday". What's your thoughts on this?? I really like both songs.

Alex B did a horrible job at vocals....Chad's was WAY better...if you cant tell the difference between the two...GET YOUR EARS CLEANED OR GET A HEARING AID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Someday" is the best song....I still need to get the cd. I'm kind of broke right now though.
