Poem. PLEASE READ!

Sacrifice

In a mortal prison of skin and bone,
Detached from the father and far from home,
Majesty and power, concealed and bound,
Lowly and Helpless, Jesus reached the ground.

The alien paradox of time He entered,
Where twelve sons of the flesh He mentored,
Holy and sinless, His life to lead,
Only to be betrayed by one in greed.

Hands that shaped the Heavens and Earth,
Surrendered to the cross amidst jeers and mirth,
And in that moment nailed to the tree,
He pleaded God forgive them, Jesus of Galilee.

In his final breath, through Pain and Agony,
He cried, “Lord why have you forsaken me?”
He carried the earth’s multitude of sin,
But the greatest pain of all; God abandoned him.

Unique in all eternity was that moment,
God never again forgot the son sent,
Descent into the Darkness of the fires He fell,
But rose again- sin and death to Dispel!

For Whom pain’s claw had never reached,
For Whom sin’s spear never breached,
Endured ridicule, suffering and torment,
Engulfed by the sin of all, Jesus’ lament.

Jesus suffered all this that we might see,
A chance to live and in the Truth be free,
All He asks in return from us,
Is that in him, we may put out trust.

Thanx!!

I've not done many more, but might post some in the future.

I'm really trying to show all that Jesus went through for us, so can't we at least do something for him and accept him into our hearts???

I am so thankful for the sacrifice that Christ made for us None of us deserved it but He freely gave His life so we could have eternal life and forgiveness from our sin:P

You know, I hear people throw that around alot. Could you explain exactly what you mean by that... and, why was it so much of a sacrafice?? I know the scripture... but I've just never understood why people make such a big deal out of it. He only gave his life for 3 days. I am most certainly not trying to attack you, I've just meaning to ask for a while. And why did him dying allow us to be saved? I just don't see why the whole thing is necessary. This isn't directed at you as well, others can feel free to respond.

You've obviously missed the whole point of the poem! All the things mentioned are showing how "big a deal" it was.

To start at the beginning....
The wages of sin is death.
People don't like hearing it but you just can't go around living the way you like, Sin has consequences.
AFter Adam's betrayal and introduction of sin to the world it was forever seperated from his glory. Just a select few were given the priveledge of knowing God. Then.....
Jesus came. He lowered himself to a pitiful human to reconcile the world and give his life as a perfect offering. We are all sinners and should therefor by rights go to hell and suffer, but jesus took our sins upon himself that we might live. Its amazing!!
In answer to the second part of your question, the dying for three days wasn't the biggest pain for Jesus, he was soiled, humiliated, engulfed and shrouded in SIn, which alienated him from his father. He and the Father are after all, one and the same, he lost a part of himself.

I hope this now makes more sense, it is a unfathomably "big deal" and you and I, and everyone else in the world owe him an infinitely huge debt.

Northerner,
Lovely poem...I think though I may be wrong maybe what bgiven is asking is why should we believe that it really happened? Look from my perspective I believe in God and have a relationship with him but I am very confused by what alot of things in the bible says...the bible was not written by God but by mortal flawed men..so is it truly God's work??
Look I'm not bashing just curious of your perspective...

Hey Goddess
It is understandable that you don't understand the bible. I didn't understand it at first but It gets easier the more you read it I went to a christian school for a year and in that year I learned so much more about the bible and they made it easier to follow along with. They explained it very well there.

Goddess_bb,
There are so many reasons to be beleive it happened!! The written evidence from the time is irrefutable. The Roman emperor at the time even wrote about an "agitator" at the time who was "making trouble among the Jews". This was from people who had no bias or religion, just stating the facts. Thats just one example but nearly all scholars admit that the man Jesus existed, but argue over whether he was the Son of God. Your second question, how can you trust the bible, Yes the bible was written by humans but was "god breathed" (1 Timothy- i think!). The holy spirit opens up the word to beleivers. Its "meaning is veiled" to people who are still in sins prison, people who are not saved. If you are a Christian, just pray that God and His Spirit will quide you and strengthen you and his Word will make sense. YOu will get the key to a whole new world. The bible is an amazing tool, make sure you utilise it!!
