Re: 2 New Songs From Scott
I'm really diggin' "Somber"... sweet song. I think the live version of "Criminal" is way better than the studio version though. I just wish they had better production and mixing but ah well... I actually put them in GarageBand real quick & tried to EQ them a bit & put a little reverb on there to take away the dryness, so if you guys want to check them out here's a link:

Are any of these up on you tube ? I'm unable to pull them up, but maybe it's a problem on my end.

Re: 2 New Songs From Scott
Interesting that they kept a vocal crack in the Criminal even after mixing.
It's right at 2:34 - 2:35 "Why can't you see me for what (i've) become" is the line he sings, with the crack on the word in parenthesis. You can tell they sort of tried to edit it out, but it's pretty bad for a finished recording. Then again, i guess this is a b-side, but still. |

Re: 2 New Songs From Scott
It's amazing to hear how similar Somber is to Overcome. Criminal reminded me of away in silence a little bit. Now we know why he decided to release them as free b-sides.
The songs sound very raw, they could really use a day with a proper producer and sound engineer to clean them up a little. I liked Somber the most, musically it was superior to Criminal. Criminal was filled with an allotment of lyrics being said way to fast. The only thing I like about Criminal was the piano and Alex Bodnar(who did a fantastic job on both tracks). Despite Somber basically being Overcome, it is still a good song. Hey, if anyone gets the lyrics to these songs please post them. btw, thanks Dark_Knight for this thread.

Re: 2 New Songs From Scott
They left an obvious string of cracks in "Fear" from Full Circle. Anyway, as much as I love Overcome, Somber is an absolutely amazing song. It would be a shame to let this song go to waste, so I'm glad he posted them for us. It's terrible that it won't make the cut. |
