I still dont think Shihad has made its mark over here, popular over in NZ not so much here. Dont know why, they arent that bad. Not my kind of music but can appreciate it.

yeah they've had a couple of singles do okay but they're not really that well known. they're better than crap like jet and the vines though......

Agree. Jet is probably the most overrated Australian band ever. Amazes me how their music sells, just shows the state of music over here.

they're just recycling riffs from ac/dc, the stones and the like and the singer is not that great either.

Australian music industry is fucked. What shits me most is when you see Sony not re-newing contracts with bands that have talent like Jerk, just to have more cash to sign Australian Idol rejects. How they can reward them over bands that have worked so hard to get up there amazes me.

yeah and another band is you am i who were cut from their record company when all of these idols are getting signed and then forgotton 12 months later. its all short-term thinking........

Exactly, I doubt anyone will be buying any of the Australian Idols albums a few years down the track. Possibly Guy will be the only one with lasting appeal.

he has a good voice but his music is annoying. sure he has some range but how bout singing lower every now and then. singing so high all the time gets to my nerves. what is with shannon noll having all that success? he is the jimmy barnes for the super bogan lol.

Guy will be around purely because his records continue to sell quite well, mainly due to fact his target audience is teenage girls. As for Shannon, I doubt he will be remembered for much longer.

idol is a great marketing concept so long as the teenage girls (and to a lesser extent middle-aged women) who thought they were cute are still around and listening to them. as soon as those teenage girls start to reach adult hood then its all over. therefore the lifetime of these artists is very short.....
