almost bought Cream's "Live at Royal Albert Hall" CD the other nite when @ Wal-Mart, but given that it cost $22 for the 2-disc set, plus that it wasn't so highly recommended, i figgered to pass on it.

well, i guess this thread technically doesn't exclude real albums, as my parents like to call them. today, while checking out Stick It In Your Ear (a music/bong shop in downtown Springfield), I bought:
Days of Future Passed ~ The Moody Blues Tarkus ~ Emerson, Lake & Palmer Works, Vol. 2 ~ Emerson, Lake & Palmer (my mom already has Vol. 1, so I figured I'd complete the collection) Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs ~ Derek and the Dominos Eye in the Sky ~ Alan Parson Projec

Re: recent purchases?
Alice In Chains - Greatest Hits (REALLY loving this alot, never really got into them but gave them another chance and ive been listening constantly lately, intend to grab all their albums. If someone could direct me to a fansite listing all related projects by these guys it would be great )
Tool - 10 000 Days Pearl Jam - Self Titled Opeth - Ghost Reveries Bullet for My Valentine - The Poison (addicted to this too, really great album) Katatonia - The Great Cold Distance (great metal album, if you could call them that after their last few albums) Scott Weiland - 12 Bar Blues (Finally managed to find legit copy of it, very diverse album and wierd as you expect from Scott) The Black Keys - Rubber Factory (After reading few opinions on this board decided to give it a go and was quite suprised!!)

Re: recent purchases?
Muad'Dib! Awesome on the AIC and Black Keys! I love Rubber Factory a ton. You should pick up Thick Freadness by them, too. It's very good!
As for AIC fan sites, this one is the best, IMHO: http://www.adbdesign.com/aic/ Some side projects: Jerry Cantrell has two solo discs: Boggy Depot and Degradation Trip Vols. 1 & 2. They both are awesome. Boggy Depot is more mellow and different sounding. DT has more of the Alice vibe and Jerry's trademark harmonies. Also, he contributed to Twisted Willie, which was a tribute CD to Willie Nelson. His song on that is called I've Seen All This World I Care to See. Mad Season -- Above This was a side project involving Layne Staley and Mike McCready, along with Mark Lanegan, Barrett Martin and Baker Saunders. It's a gorgeous record. Layne was amazing on this CD as was McCready. It was that lightning-in-a-bottle moment, for real. There is a video called Live at the Moore that features Mad Season music. It's awesome, especially an instrumental called November Hotel. McCready is a madman on this performance. It used to be available on amazon.com. Not sure if it's still there. Sean Kinney (drums) was in a band called Spys4Darwin after AIC went dormant. I just got the CD, but I haven't heard it yet. Mike Inez (bass) has been with Heart for a while now. Also, there is hilarious VHS tape called the Nona Tapes. It was a promo for their self-titled CD and it's a riot. Those guys really had a good sense of humor. That also was on amazon. If you really get into them, save up and get the Music Bank collection. It has some demos, unreleased stuff, and a couple of tunes that were new at the time. I think it came out in '99. The booklet that comes with it is great. A lot of it is written by Jerry and gives some insight into them as a band. Here are their studio releases: We Die Young (EP that's out of print, I believe) Facelift Sap Dirt Jar of Flies Alice In Chains Alice in Chains Unplugged (get the DVD, it's AMAZING) Alice In Chains Live They also have a few greatest hits compilations in addition to the Music Bank: Nothing Safe: Best of the Box Greatest Hits And they were on some movie soundtracks Last Action Hero -- What the Hell Have I, A Little Bitter (these also are on the Music Bank discs) Jerry was on a couple of soundtracks: Spiderman -- She Was My Girl The Cable Guy -- Leave Me Alone Anyway, that ought to get you started . And Lechium. I love Opeth, too, and I still enjoy MOP and HC .

Re: recent purchases?
Woah heaps of INFO!!! Thanks alot! Yeah I want to hear as much as possible heh. Ive seen the Unplugged DVD in a store here before, probably pick that up first next week. Just amazing band.
As for Lechium, yeah I can be a bit diverse I think cos I got into Creed when I was alot younger and really was first band I really liked. Kind of a soft spot for them still.

Re: recent purchases?
You are most welcome, Muad'Dib...The band Jerry toured with on his solo run in 2001-02 is called Comes With The Fall. You might like them, too. They have a myspace and they also have a web site:
www.comeswiththefall.com They have some tunes you can listen to. They are a three-piece. William DuVall, their lead singer, will be the guest vocalist for AIC's current run on their mini-reunion tour throughout Europe and on a few limited U.S. dates coming up in May. I'm always pimping them, lol. I love them and they are trying to do things outside the box career-wise. They're still having a tough time making a living as CWTF, but they have managed to put out three CDs, with a fourth on the way. The live 2002 CD rocks, too. It's only 10 songs, but it's kick-ass!
