A picture’s weathered corners
Image burned in mind
Frozen in a landscape
Of the colors left behind

Your eyes they hold the candle
Of what you thought you claimed
The flame no longer lingers
And there’s no one left to blame

I knew you when you cared
I knew you when you bothered
I wish you hadn’t disappeared
I wish you hadn’t mattered

The cards lie on the table
The money’s in the pot
It’s your turn to make a move
So give your hand a shot

Memories your enemy
A penny for those thoughts
Drive you to insanity
And test what will you brought

I knew you when you cared
I knew you when you bothered
I wish you hadn’t disappeared
I wish you hadn’t mattered

The dust and dirt are piled high
The weeds have overtaken
Broken glass coats the floor
The tattered walls are flaking

House of horrors opens up
The ghosts they dance with glee
You’re invited once again
To greet the sun or flee

I knew you when you cared
I knew you when you bothered
I wish you hadn’t reappeared
I wish you hadn’t flattered

Thanks, everyone!

Iced, I do not have a web site. I only started doing this about a year or so ago, so I don't have a big collection or anything...just about 10 or 12 at the moment. The ones here have been written in the last two weeks or so.

Awesome poem, Kerri. You're a great writer and you're inspiring me to sit down and do some writing. I've done some journaling lately but haven't written any poems for awhile.

Thank you, Sheila! This is like pay it forward. Aimee's poems got me to get out the pen and paper and now you're doing the same. That's great, Sheila! It's such a wonderful outlet!

Dogstar, I rented the movie Pay It Forward, after it was mentioned quite a while ago on this board, perhaps by you. I think the thought is a wonderful concept. Please share more or your poetry with us. I enjoy learning the thoughts behind the person.

You're welcome. I agree with you, writing is a wonderful outlet. I find that it helps me to figure things out that are going on in my life as well.

It sure does, Sheila! It can clarify and purify...It's a healthier way to purge, IMO ...

Thanks, whitebird and Teri!
