Sacrifice

In a mortal prison of skin and bone,
Detached from the father and far from home,
Majesty and power, concealed and bound,
Lowly and Helpless, Jesus reached the ground.

The alien paradox of time He entered,
Where twelve sons of the flesh He mentored,
Holy and sinless, His life to lead,
Only to be betrayed by one in greed.

Hands that shaped the Heavens and Earth,
Surrendered to the cross amidst jeers and mirth,
And in that moment nailed to the tree,
He pleaded God forgive them, Jesus of Galilee.

In his final breath, through Pain and Agony,
He cried, “Lord why have you forsaken me?”
He carried the earth’s multitude of sin,
But the greatest pain of all; God abandoned him.

Unique in all eternity was that moment,
God never again forgot the son sent,
Descent into the Darkness of the fires He fell,
But rose again- sin and death to Dispel!

For Whom pain’s claw had never reached,
For Whom sin’s spear never breached,
Endured ridicule, suffering and torment,
Engulfed by the sin of all, Jesus’ lament.

Jesus suffered all this that we might see,
A chance to live and in the Truth be free,
All He asks in return from us,
Is that in him, we may put out trust.
