In order to get some of the rumours into one place and make them easier to find....

This thread will list bands in three catagories; Bands that have confirmed on their websites, bands that have "verbally" confirmed and bands that can't possibly play. Post updates to any information into this thread - I'll "check" the source and update the list (in the case of verbal confirmations I'll obviously have to take your word for it... ). Once the list has updated, I'll delete your post from the thread - this is to keep the thread free of noise and make the list easy to find.

DOWNLOAD DOG SAYS: "PLEASE NOTE THAT NONE OF THESE BANDS ARE OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED UNLESS THEY ARE LISTED ON THE OFFICIAL DOWNLOAD WEBSITE, AND DOWNLOAD IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCURACY OF THESE RUMOURS."
HHH adds: The problem self confirmations is that a band whose management is trying to negotiate a slot on the bill may well start telling people that they are "definately" playing Download - that negotiation may fall apart for many reasons!

Self Confirmed (on the artists official website)

Lacuna Coil Sunday 12th June http://www.lacunacoil.it/

Self Confirmed (verbally)
Please note: Last year some bands who self confirmed verbally didn't play the festival (Chimaira for one) so please remember that these should still be regarded as rumour.

Trivium (Their official site - note that it has them down for the 11th & 12th! Thanks gamey. Oops - it's been removed. Obviously had a slap on the wrist - so I've moved it down into the next section.. Thanks Coose for spotting that...)
Mudvayne (during show at The Garage)
Black Label Society (on XFM Rockshow, thanks BarbarianBob)
Bleeding Through (To a friend of Shez's)
Taking Back Sunday (On Kerrang Radio, thanks again Chris!)
A Life Once Lost (According to their Pure Volume site - thanks JimBobRob123 for that.)
Atreyu (Again thanks to A Life Once Lost)
Unearth (ALOL again)
Norma Jean (ALOL)
Every Time I Die (ALOL)
Alter Bridge (From the stage at the astoria - thanks jwhitlee)
Caliban (From conversation between Marc Gortz and Phoenix45000)
Hatebreed (from conversation with a friend of doggie_bollocks, though according to howdy they aren't sure.)

Unable to play

Dreamtheater ( http://www.dreamtheater.net/tourdates.php - playing Sweden, Holland & Switzerland)
Rammstein (although not booked up on every date, the Donington stage unfortunately can't handle them)
Mötley Crüe ( http://www.motleycrue.com/tour/ - playing Norway, Sweden & Italy)
Crowbar (No reason given, but Pat Bruders confirmed this in person to Si Faru)
36 Crazyfists (Speaking with serj_tankian they told him they were doing some festivals, but not Download.)
