Re: Creed Live UStream in Nashville (7/26)

Reminder about Rockline tomorrow... they'll be on @ 8:30 (Pacific) after the Nashville show. Thanks to Frankie for the heads up.

Quote: It has become this year’s forgotten tragedy, an event of horrific magnitude that displayed no regard for its victims. It mattered not whether they were hard working salt-of-the-earth, make the world go round types, or world famous, high profile entertainers with household names. The disaster struck on May 1st and 2nd and Time magazine, in a prescient piece of reporting, predicted the story would never gain traction for several reasons. First, the life changing drama was overshadowed by two other events, the Times Square bombing attempt in New York City and the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion which claimed eleven lives. The unheralded Nashville floods took more than 30 lives, yet it was a disaster which never really caught the attention of the public or the media. The magazine surmised the flooding of the Cumberland River just didn’t have the “hooks” that a story needs to remain in the news for an extended period. In street terms it just wasn’t sexy enough. Sure, the picture of Kenny Chesney personally carrying some of his already damaged gear to safety was compelling, but only for an evening. The damage to the legendary Grand Ole Opry was nothing more than a quick blip on the radar too. It was as if the unimaginable billion dollars plus flooding of Music City never quite caught the public’s attention or the million miles an hour news cycle. We bet that many Americans still have no idea that just about ninety days ago much of downtown Nashville was buried under ten feet of water. Nashville was on its own.

Fortunately, there are some who’ve decided to help in any way they can and this week’s guests on ROCKLINE, Creed, can be counted in that group. In fact, they will have performed a benefit concert at the Hard Rock Cafe immediately before joining us not only providing much needed aid to many who need it, but beginning their much anticipated “20-10” tour as well. Learn more at Creed.com and their MySpace All proceeds will go to “Hands On Nashville”. By the way, the Hard Rock, as is the case with so many famous buildings in the area has been recently revamped, by necessity. The tour takes its name from the dramatically lowered ticket prices, all either $10 or $20 each. With the economy still in the tank that’s good news for more than just Nashville residents. Creed has been rehearsing in the Country Music Capitol and also working on a new summer single which they hope to release a couple of weeks into their tour, an addendum to their aptly titled comeback album, “Full Circle”. You should know that tickets for the Hard Rock concert on July 26 are $75 and $100 dollars, not $10 & $20, but we don’t think anyone will be complaining as America’s forgotten city and its people continue to rebuild in near anonymity, far from the national cameras, but oh so close to apathy.

Join us for Creed on our next ROCKLINE.
