Thanks for the link to the article. I thought it was very good!

What she doesn't go into detail to say is that Creed's name was influenced by their former bassist Brian Marshall who came from a band named "Mattox Creed." The band liked the idea of keeping "Creed" as part of their name and suggested things like "Scott's Creed," "Marshall's Creed," etc. When they realized that those names sounded crappy ... they decided to just go with "Creed" by itself ... particularly because Scott said that based on his backround and the fact that the word itself means "a belief in something" ... for him, it was perfect.
