Metallica to record new disc

IAYM reports: Metallica plan to enter the studio in spring 2005 to begin recording their next effort, due out through Warner Bros. following their move away from Elektra Entertainment.

Lets just hope its better than St.Anger, I hope they go back to their routes with a modern edge.

I like St. Anger. Granted, not as good as their earlier stuff, but I still enjoy it! I'm just happy that wasn't the last one! Thanks for the info, hide.

St.Anger was unlistenable the first time a friend put it in my car but it grows. I fully rocked out to the title song on the way to the football the otehr night! :D i prefer every studio album to st.anger to be honest including load and re-load.

Dogstar 06-01-2004 12:21 AM

Ewww, not me...Load and Re-Load are last on my Metallica list :D.

load and re-load were too commercial but at least the drum tech was not asleep during the recording of those sessions! :)

Dogstar 06-01-2004 12:26 AM

LOL...I don't know. the drumming thing doesn't bother me that much. Granted, as I said, it's not their best effort, but I still like it better than the Load, Re-Load stuff.

the drumming kills it, sounds like he's hitting pots and pans! and what is metallica without hammet's solos?

Dogstar 06-01-2004 12:32 AM

As I said, not their best effort. And I miss the Hammett solos as well. I'm hoping their next one has them.

I was gonna count how many posts it took until someone said something like this. Lo and behold, it's in the first post! Congratulations on being a tremendous clichè! [Is it just me or does almost every rock fan today pine for the days of bands' first album?]

Load and Re-Load, devoid of all the crap, could've made a top album. Pity that.

why thankyou i aim to be walking, talking cliche!

i'm all for bands going in different directions from their earlier stuff so long as its good. examples are pearl jam from ten and vs to binaural and riot act. they are not as good as the first two albums imo (middle albums are the best) but they are good and MUCH better than the drivel Metallica sold its loyal fans in the guise of St.Anger.

Get the drumming right, work on the lyrics and let Hammet do what he does best and then i'll be interested. At least Load and Re-load showed evidence of a little thing called melody in their songs.

My thoughts , metallica wasnt meant for melodie, Bu Hard Kick Ass Music That Just Flows, And Has A Melodie Of Perfect Brain Crushing Rock, Like The Black Album, It Just Sorta Had A Free Flow, I Never skip A Song On That Cd,

Metallica at their best were hard rock but with melody, not simply noise! You raised the Black album take a song such as "One" for instance.
