If Creed is forever gone...

Everything they accomplished will be remembered for years to come. I am looking forward to some solo work...but I can't help but wonder how things got to be where they are. Did I hear Tremonti's work will be with Flip and Brian Marshall? Or is that just a rumor? I've seen Stapp in public at the Grammy's, Celebrity Poker, and others. It just seems that he has changed over the years. I know most on this site would disagree. But if Tremonti, Flip and Marshall do a project together, that's just going to add to my speculations.

Creed had done some amazing things. And their live performances were maybe the best ever. But I just can't stop wondering if this whole break-up is a direct reflection upon how Stapp has changed.

Any other intelligent thoughts? People who have seen what I have seen from Stapp?? I am not bashing, nor worshiping, just stating what I have witnessed.

it would be a good idea to check some of these threads so we don't go over the same ground over and over. Using Tremonti's music and lyrics a new band consisting of himself, Philips, Marhshall and some think Myles Kennedy of the Mayfair Four are preparing their album. Scott Stapp is preparing a solo album. Whether Creed is history is what many of us want to know.

RMadd 02-11-2004 12:44 AM

They're not officially broken up at this point in time. Stapp said the other day that they committed to 10 years, it's been 10 years, now they're pursuing other stuff at the moment. That don't mean they'll put another original CD out again.

a little correction, i hope you don't mind. Myles group was the Mayfield Four. Just keeping things straight...:)

Not sure how true this is but someone said that they signed a 7 record deal with Wind-up. They've put out 3 so far and if 2 more are put out as side projects that still leaves 2 more to fulfill their contract. Maybe it's just wishful thinking but does anyone else know about the record deal?

Chrispy 02-11-2004 10:28 AM

Denise, GG, posted the exact comment over at another board, so I would believe it to be true.

multifast1 02-11-2004 10:42 AM

Yep, that's where I heard it! So many things being said that it's hard to keep straight what came from who.. lol. For some reason though I thought I remembered talk fo Creed having signed a 3 record deal originally with WU and then WU had an option of extending it after the 3. Guess that's what they did and made it a 7 record deal.

I dunno, I really torn on this one. I hope both of their project are huge successes but I can't help but think that if one or both ends up being close to as successful as Weathered that we may never see another all-original Creed CD... Kind of a catch-22

Shadow 02-11-2004 05:56 PM

I choose to still be in denial about the whole break-up rumour. The only way I justify it to myself, is that this is what Bon Jovi did 18 years ago. I believe it was after the Slippery When Wet (their 3rd album) tour, that Jon and Richie couldn't even look at each other, much less talk to each other. But I remember Jon saying in an interview something to the effect that it (Bon Jovi) was too good and the music was too good, for them not to get back together. And the funny thing is, Jon had to ask Alec (the bass player) to leave the band. Does anybody else see any similarities here?

If Creed never does another record, I will still probably be in denial. I love Creed toooo much to admit it to myself. :smileyban

multifast1 02-11-2004 06:52 PM

I'm right there with you, Shadow. I'm hoping for the same thing to happen eventually too... but it's still a break-up, even if only for a short time. Hopefully the saying about absense making the heart grow fonder (and memory grow weaker) will hold true here!

2: could be a live album (double) or the DVD...

I definately hope to get a new album but I dunno :(

hunnie_gurl_19 02-11-2004 08:50 PM

I really hope they make more beautiful music together. It's such a shame how things have happened the way they have. :(

with the songs that didnt make it to the other albums.

emailthatguy 03-03-2004 06:53 PM

day before yesterday on xm radio, squizzxl reported that creed has broken up. dunno if its true, kinda registered here trying to find out if its true.

Dogstar 03-03-2004 07:01 PM

Well, the words "break up" have not been used, but they are taking a break from each other. Scott S. is working on a solo project and has contributed songs for music inspired by the movie The Passion of the Christ. Tremonti and Flip, together with Brian Marshall (I think, I can't remember, LOL), are also working on a side project. There is some sort of Creed compilation coming out later this year, according to Wind Up Records, that will have a couple of new Creed songs.

creedwisdom 03-13-2004 08:37 AM

anyone else feel like this?

i posted this on another board and got blasted for being stupid. just wondering if i had any compadres over here....

i only have 3 shows, too, but those reflections and memories will be with me always, as will my CREEDFamily, no matter what happens. i am so grateful for the experiences, and so glad i wrote it all down.

For me, though, there is guilt as well. i watched my alcatraz tape last weekend, and i just broke down crying. i was thinking that as much as i love seeing it, scott was so ill, physically and mentally broken by that point. i truly feel that the weathered tour was just a breaking point for the band on many levels...and maybe if i was not such a "needy" fan, the band would not have gone through so much, and would still be together. then, i just prayed that God will somehow, someday fulfill scott's lyric that "all that has been devastated can be recreated"

i love lots of music, but no one's music fills and moves me as CREED's does. it strengthens and inspires me, it drives me toward God and inside myself. as i wrote to scott, for me, faceless man is the truth of the whole bible in a single song. for me, they can never be "replaced". i hope only the best for the solo efforts, but CREED is something together that it's members cannot approach singly.

their art has become part of who i am now. i'm sorry it took me until 2001 to discover them!

there is always hope. i pray that time and some healing will draw them together again one day...but at present, we have no choice but to accept and hope for the best.

blessings to all, tresa

Like you, I wished I had discovered them earlier then I did. It was around this time two years ago that I heard their music and I've been hooked ever since. I'm just so grateful for their words and music that they've given us over the years as well as all of the wonderful friends I've made because of them.

JenRN 03-13-2004 09:16 AM

There will never be a band that affects me like CREED. Some people who don't know their music think people like us are nuts..... but we know the truth. It feeds my soul, the music, the lyrics. I go to it when I am happy or sad. It has brought my the most incredible friendships and has gotten me through the darkest times in my life. For these reasons I will always be greatful to them. :crest: I relate to Creed like no other band.

TeriB19 03-13-2004 09:34 AM

Hey Tresa, you won't be blasted here for your thoughts. (I can only guess where you posted and were pounced on). This place is not like that, it's not really like any other place on the net for Creed fans. We understand, and some of us even discussed exactly the way you are feeling at the end of the Weathered tour. Some of us felt just like that, as if we somehow were responsible for Scott's illness and exhaustion because of our desire to see as many shows as they'd offer to us. Creed meant a great deal to a great many and like you, they touched us in a way no other band could. All we can do is hope this is just a hiatus and keep fingers crossed. But we can look forward to some great solo stuff in the future. :)

Welcome to CreedFeed, emailthatguy.:D As far as I know nothing "official" has been said about the rumors but when Scott was on the Craig Kilborn show last month, Craig asked him if the band was breaking up and Scott said "no", that they're taking a "hiatus" and doing their own thing. Don't know if this answers your question or not but I wasn't sure if you caught the show.
