Kazza/Morpheous/Napster = Big downhill slump 4 Cd sales

wow i never really noticed this but.......
On the billbord top 100 selleing albums for 2002 the #1 album (emenem) was 6X platnum and #2 Creed was 5X platnum. (in usa)

I look at the Top 100 Album sales 5 years ago

#1 was over 17X platnum,
#2 was over 12X platnum
#3 was over 10X platnum
#4 was over 10X platnum
#5 was over 8Xplanum
And #6 was over 6X platnum

WHUT a difference! and probly the main reason 4 this is All those music share stuff. as soon as kazza and such were introduced the CD sales droped alot. Thays also Y Human Clay went 10X platnum and Weathered went 5X platnum

As much as i use Kazza, it dosnt put much hope to new music artists.

Also it looks like creed is fallen.
weathered sold only half as much as human clay did. I really would like creed to sell like 30 million copys, lol hats kinda hard thoygh... hmm

Creed is 6X platinum which is not bad considering it took MOP 6years to get that status. Weathered was the CD where Creed got most popular

why buying an album if you can download it? only if you care about the band and want to support them and get their artwork...

Although I really thought Weathered would overcome Human Clay... In my opinion, Weathered is Creed´s best album...

hey weathered DID just hot 6X platnum like yesterday. good. ANd ya i personally liek weathered better than Human clay.. but what r ya gona do? Also weathered isnt dead YET. My own Prison hit 6X platnum after like 5 years. And actually it is because of Human clay that happened. People liekd human clay so the ygot MY own Prison. Thats how i got it.

Weathered 01-03-2003 08:43 PM

X you said that HC beat weathered...just imagine how many people downloaded Weathered....millions of people

Xterminator27 01-03-2003 08:47 PM

just imagine how many people downloaded Human clay, plus the 10X platnum sales in the USA alone

Weathered 01-03-2003 08:56 PM

yeah but i guarentee Weathered was downloaded prolly the most out of all the albums made this year

Xterminator27 01-03-2003 09:06 PM

well we donno we cant no, oh well. It dose hurt alot of newby bands because without record sales to pay em thy wont make songs TO download. and ultimatly it may take over/destroy music.

Weathered 01-03-2003 11:46 PM

true....yeah it does suck...but hey im not complaining that we can download music...when napster got shut down i was so pissed...then scour came along that kinda sucked...but u could downloaded photos and movies on it...then morpheus came and that was 203232323 times better then napster...now its kazaa

Mulletman 01-04-2003 12:18 AM

yea i dont buy studio CDs anymore, im not even going to do it for the special DVD bomuses some have. i have wasted soo much money on CDs that only had ONE good song and 17 pieces of sampled shit. i know this hurts a lot of break out bands that desprately need the record sales.... but if you cannot impress me, im not wasting my money. plus for those of you that are old enogh to remember... they said the same thing about cassette tapes. they said that cassettes would be the end of the record industry cause people would record songs off the radio.

....by the way did i mention larz is a fucking nazi....?

I download mostly as a shopping guide. If I hear a song on the radio that I kind of like, I might find out the album, check the track list, download three or four songs and see whether I like them. If so, I'll buy the CD. It's the best way to shop because then I figure if I like three or four songs, it's worth getting the studio CD. Plus, I like that some of them have DVD stuff and videos and bonus interviews and the like.
I also think the economy and the high prices of some of the CDs are contributing to the slumping music sales. 20 bucks is a lot for a CD that cost them maybe a tenth of that to produce...

Oh, by the way, Lars will never see another dime from me....I think Mullet mentioned that Lars is, um, a fuggin' Nazi, yes?;) I thought so. :D

To me, nothing can compare to going to a music store and buying and opening up the CD case and looking at the artwork and the CD itself. The only time that I use a P2P FSP is when I want only one or two songs of an album and that should be the only way to use P2P FSP....

Yeah, I also like to read the liner notes. Some artists have really good ones. I'll admit I miss album covers. The artwork on some of them was amazing. I think a lot of it can get lost in something so small as a CD. The group Yes had a wild artist as did the Moody Blues. Very trippy stuff that I could look at for hours and see something different every time I looked at them.
