Pearl Jam "Leash" lyrics question.
Lyric sheet says that repeted line is "get out of my lucky face", but I can never hear 'lucky' part and its alwasy sounds more like 'fucking'.
Am I right and they just made more user friendly lyrics sheet, or I'm hearing things? |
I always thought it was "fucking" face, too...Dunno for sure, though.

i also think its the later but i am trying to find out 100% as we speak..... |
according to www.theskyiscrape.com which is one of the better fan sites the lyrics are:
troubled souls unite, we got ourselves tonight.. i am fuel, you are friends, we got the means to make amends i am lost, i'm no guide, but i'm by your side i am right by your side... young lover i stand it was their idea, i proved to be a man take my fucking hand it was their idea, i proved to be a man will myself to find a home, a home within myself we will find a way, we will find our place drop the leash, drop the leash... get outta' my fuckin' face drop the leash, drop the leash... get outta' my fuckin' face drop the leash, drop the leash... get outta' my fuckin' face drop the leash, we are young drop the leash, we are young get outta' my fuckin' face... drop the leash, drop the leash... get outta' my, my... delight, delight, delight in our youth... get outta' my fuckin' face... |
my fellow jammers concur with my assumption that it is the later!
|
Heh guess I'm not alone in that than.
Still lyrics bookelt from the CD says 'lucky' =) |
I'm not surprised. Can't go offending people...
Like the Darkness' CD they had to record a 'clean' version of some of their songs (Get Your hands off my woman, motherfucker - "cunt" was changed to "coconut" and then in the chorus the censored version somehow changed "motherfucker" to "mama fumma" (or something similar) for their US release. Good on Pearl Jam for actually singing Fucker but, using Lucky in the cd booklet is a bit of a cop out. |

How so? The booklet is a compilation of Eddie's notes... the original lyric was "Get out of my lucky face." Later changed to the version heard today and on the album. In rvm the word is listed, so I do not believe the band had any problems with it being in the booklet. Eddie Vedder is the last individual in the music business that would compromise artistic integrity for social mores. There is no cop out, unlike say, a band that bends over for corporate magazines and record companies to release radio-friendly albums about... I'll let you figure out which band I'm talking about... |
