Wind-up or EMI?

See this: http://www.fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=106553

Imo, it would be good thing to increase AB career, cause EMI is a multinacional label, present in a lot of countries, so they wont waste money, time and effort with small promotion and sales. What means its also a test to AB.

My question is: Is this a (possible) second chance to artists like Alter Bridge, to at least get real promotion? Is it a good perspective or sounds the same thing? What do you think?

I certainly hope it is. Not only has Alter Bridge suffered from a real lack of promotion from Wind-Up, but so have other, lesser known Wind-Up artists. Artists like 12 Stones, Big Dismal(they've broken up, but Eric Durrance is still signed to Wind-Up and I'd like to see him get the promotion he deserves) and even Submersed. That's just three that I can name right off the top of my head that have not gotten the promotion that they deserved. Wind-Up seems to have a real eye, for the most part, for quality artists but they don't always promote them well. If this article is right, I hope that EMI will give more promotion to Wind-Up's artists, both well-known and unknown.

i think this merger would certainly help AB in terms of sales... of course, that leads right into the debate regarding sales as an indicator of badassness and record labels (potentially) stifling artist creativity. either way, i think it'd be good for AB b/c Wind-Up kinda sucks ass.

Wind-Up sucks. I say down with them!

Ugh, more mega-ownership is never a good thing. It has pretty much stifled the creativity of many a band. I think maybe Wind Up got too big for its own good and maybe couldn't handle the promotion properly. They certainly have done a pretty shitty job with Submersed, for instance. Still, I hate to see yet another so-called independent gobbled up by the megalopolies.

Exactly. I'd rather see Alter Bridge switch labels than Wind-Up get bought out.

Zakk Wylde (BLS) seems to be doing fine and he started his own label. It seems he outsourced Distribution... but all the rest is his.

If someone can confim that, I appreciate!
