WORK UNDERWAY ON NEW ALTER BRIDGE ALBUM

12/10/2009

Now that Creed has completed its reunion tour and gotten both a new album and DVD out the door, guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips are turning their attention back to their other band, Alter Bridge. Tremonti and singer Myles Kennedy are working on new songs this month, and Tremonti gave us some ideas about what to expect: "Well, me and Myles, we come from different places, so if it was completely up to me, it would be a much heavier, riffier, just kick-ass fun to play record, with the best melodies that you could fit into a more progressive sound. I think that's always been our goal, is to have the music be as interesting and orchestrated as possible without losing the song. So it's finding that balance."

Alter Bridge's last album, Blackbird, came out in 2007.

Tremonti, Phillips and Marshall joined forces in the group after Creed split up in 2004, enlisting Kennedy as lead singer.

Kennedy reportedly auditioned for the frontman spot in a Led Zeppelin offshoot group late last year, but nothing ever came of it.

Both Kennedy and Tremonti assured fans earlier this year that the Creed reunion would not mean the end of Alter Bridge.

Creed's summer reunion tour wrapped up in late October just as the band's new album, Full Circle, arrived. A concert DVD called Creed Live came out this past Tuesday (December 8th
