I checked out the photo page, and the guy with long brown hair looks like Jim Morrison at a glance. I find that kind of strange! Knowing Stapp's attraction to Morrison! This is one of the pics I mean. Hope this works, I have never posted a link for pics here before. http://teaparty.com/graphics/im/photo_1.jpg |

Thanks for the links. Though I know nothing about them...everything I am reading is that they are amazing...a friend of mine who is Canadian raves about them. :D |
Most of the people I know who like the Tea Party aren't happy with this collaboration. I hope it works out. I have to check out the Tea Party. Don't know their music.
|
since when was The tea party more popular then creed???

Pay no attention to X, sami, he often makes no sense. :D

Oh OK! lol thanks! ;) |
What kind of rock do they play?
|
Heh well what i mean is that in huge letters it says
THE TEA PARTY and in micro print is says featuring creed. Last time i cheaked Creed outsold tea party in well, all of their cds/everything and Tea party is a cool band, they got one good sone "heavens coming down" (or was it falling down? i listen to it like every day but dont know) |
Thanks for links. Loved the picture.
I've never heard their music. I'm interested in finding out how much of a collaboration it will be. |
the tea party's sound is a little like creeds, not totally though. their lyrics are very spiritual like creeds. their sound is a little heavier at times, and softer at other times, depends on the song. i personally think they're awesome, and i'm excited about them working with stapp.
I read somewhere before that creed didn't like the way they helped to get new artists known, and once they were big they would dis creed, but creed helped the tea party when they were starting out and it turned into a good friendship. that's probably where scott got the connection with them. some cool songs to check out are Heaven's Coming Down, Temptation, Walking Wounded, Psychopomp and Fire In The Head |
Thanks, Human Clay!

Thank you for explaining X. Thanks to you too Human Clay, I will check out those songs you mentioned. |
no problem. i seen the tea party live once, it was awesome. i'm stoked thinking about a chance to see them with scott stapp.
|
Wow, at first glance that guy DOES look a little like Morrison. Weird.

Cool, thanks for that. |
Anyone know what the year of that show from the handbill? I need to add Tea Party to the concert info in my tour archive.
|

Well, Jeff Martin - the singer of The Tea Party - wasoften compared to Jim Morrison, not only because of his look, but also because of his voice!
The Tea Party are pretty huge in Canada and Australia and have also many fans in Europe. They have opened for Ozzy Osbourne, Page/Plant and the Rolling Stones. In 1997 they were on US tour with Creed. If I remember correctly, one night TTP was the headliner of the evening, the other night it was Creed (http://www.theteaparty.de/live/plakate/tx_venue_i1.jpg). At this time Creed was not very well-known.... In August the band will release their newest CD called "The Seven Circles". If you ever have the chance to see them live, check them out - it will blow you away!! ;) |

I had no idea, but glad to see I wasn't the only one who has thought so, thank you! I find it strange, knowing that Morrison was Stapp's idol. |
Hi! I'm a Teahead who just joined.
The Tea Party has been around for more than a decade now and, like psychopomp said, they are very popular in Canada and Australia as well as Holland and Germany. You can listen to some of their music at these links: http://www.theteaparty.de/english/e_start.htm (use the Multimedia link) http://multimedia.the-river.ca/index.php?page=cuppatea http://www.exaudio.net.tc/ (rarities and b-sides) You can also find out more about the band in general at: http://www.theteaparty.de/ (you and view the site in English or German) and http://www.ttpthezone.com/ I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. They are simply the best live band I've ever seen! :) |
I listened to a few.......I like the singer's voice.....really deep. :D

It was actually the other way around... The Tea Party helped Creed! That's why that "bill" says: The Tea Party featuring Creed. The Tea Party brought their first CD out in '91 already... Quote:
Hi Willabeast! At first I want to WELCOME you aboard!!!! :D Second... I'm from Holland and I have to admit that they're not very known over here! I know that they've played here at Pinkpop in the year 2000... that's about it :o But I liked what I heard so far... like Jooji said, that deep voice! |
Thanks for the welcome WeatheredWoman!! :) I'm glad that you're enjoying The Tea Party so far! I love this band in a way that defies explanation! It was the voice that attracted me first, then the lyrics and then the rest. The singer, Jeff Martin, also writes all the lyrics and plays all the guitars, oud, sarod, sitar, saz and a bunch of other instruments. The rest of the band is Jeff Burrows on drums (I hope you get to see him live sometime, there's pure mania behind the kit) and Stuart Chatwood on bass and keys. It's amazing to me that with only 3 people on stage they manage to play their music live but they do and they are the best live act I've ever seen... although I'll have to admit I've never seen Creed. ;)

Yeah, some dj on our local rock station was upset because Stapp was working with them. He said he liked Creed, but just didn't like Stapp b/c of his big ego. |

Aren't baritone voices sexy............. :D |
Someone....I think it was handmedown asked a question about how involved Tea Party was in this project. I found this on a Candadian music news page
Creed Breaks Up, Scott Stapp Recruits The Tea Party Friday June 04, 2004 @ 03:00 PM By: ChartAttack.com Staff Creed After nearly 10 years together, Creed is no more. But Scott Stapp has vowed to go on, with The Tea Party standing behind him. Stapp has gone back into the studio and is currently working on a solo album with hip-hop producer 7 Aurelius and his new backing band, The Tea Party. Yes, our Tea Party — Stapp and Jeff Martin are at last working as one. Before we see that gem, Stapp will provide a track on an album filled with songs inspired by The Passion Of The Christ, due out August 31. The rest of the crap was the same stuff from the interview.....so considering my distaste for that particular bit of journalism.....I edited it out. If you actually want to waste your time reading he rest.....http://www.chartattack.com/DAMN/2004/06/0406.cfm Now, I don't trust most stuff I read on the internet....but this article does state that The Tea Party is Stapp's backing band. Take from it what you will......and we will see, I guess. |
okay thanks jooji i didn't read that link (yet) but it seems that writer is fairly exicted by the project, he at least loves the tea party. seems they are his backing band which would mean that stapp would be writing all the music. time will tell though i guess.

Well, I FINALLY got a Tea Party CD today (off half.com :D ) and I have to say I really like them. I'm going to hunt down some more of their stuff online. I agree with The Doors influence some have cited. I also heard a little Zeppelin influence, especially on the first track of Edges of Twilight. It's a cool blend of stuff. A couple of songs reminded me of Days of the New and even a little Soundgarden. All kinds of interesting combos.
|
cool that you're into the tea party kerri. i bought their latest album last week "seven circles" and i got a free t-shirt lol. not too bad although i'ld get their earlier albums first. one song on there "oceans" is a great ballad and some of you guys have probably heard their single "writing on the wall".
|
Yeah, they are really good. I love hearing stuff that is new to me, LOL. Very cool on the free t-shirt. Did you order that CD online?
|
no i bought it in stores and it was easy to find which is a good thing. the album cover is wicked.
|
Cool. I will have to scout that one out. I listened to it again tonight. I'm hooked on it!
|
I've been looking for their Seven Circles cd for a few weeks and haven't been able to find it but it is available on the website. So if you have a problem finding it Kerri, you can always order it from there. That's what I'm planning to do. :) I'm happy you were able to get a copy of it, handmedown.
|
I'm glad you guys are enjoying the Tea... they blew me away when I first heard of them in 1999. They put on the BEST live show ever... nothing flashy, just good solid rock 'n roll!
Feel free to come around to http://www.theteaparty.de/english/e_start.htm for all the latest info or http://www.teaparty-online.com/forum/index.php to chat (we're the official forum now). Hope to see you there! :) ~Willa |
I would love to see them!
|
I've now been listening to The Tea Party for about 4 months now. These guys really have blown me away. Their craftsmanship, their abilities and talents, the way they refuse to fit the mold of modern rock acts just to cash a quick buck, all this makes these guys ARTISTS. Keep it up, Jeff, Jeff, and Stuart. Kudos to all of y'all.
|
Right on, revisfoot! I just picked up another CD: Transmission. I'm listening to it now. These guys are really good. They have a Zeppelin-esque vibe to them, as well. I've only been a fan for a couple of weeks, but I'm hooked. I was psyched to find Transmission at Tower Records today!
