Chris Cornell slags on Creed

I came across this interview with Chris Cornell. It's very good -- it's mostly an audio podcast interview. During the audio portion, Chris starts talking about how grunge music got commercialized...and turned into Creed. Doesn't sound lke he liked the band too much.

Considering how bad his last couple of albums have been and how he helped drive Audioslave apart, he's not one to talk.

Agreed.

I agree. He hasn't had anything good since the first Audioslave album.

i cant withdraw my opion opions should be acurate like Dogs now the first creed album my friends was influnced by grunge M.O.P. of course but as far as saying as grunge turned into creed thats is far from acurate when the other 2 albums sweet lord was far from grunge speaking of legacys aside from the billboard hits higher and AWO H.C was a master piece ya,lls but im sure chris stands beside his opion regardless

My beef is less with the Audioslave albums (which I enjoy, all of them)... but with his recent effort.

Either way... whatever. There are probably a million interviews in which someone slags Creed or Stapp somewhere in the session... I certainly don't want to watch all of them.

I myself enjoyed Soundgarden but that is about all he has ever done that was any good to me. Who does he think he is talking about grunge? Nothing he has ever done since soundgarden even comes close to being good music, let alone good grunge music!

Re: Chris Cornell slags on Creed

If you ask me, Soundgarden were the worst of the "Big 5" grunge bands. Give me Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots or Alice In Chains over them anyday. As for Audioslave, I find them to be an okay band but they are great compared to his new solo work.

And he has a lot of nerve, doing songs with Timbaland.

He was still one of the forerunners, whether you want to argue if he's "good" or not. He was around before Eddie Vedder and all those other guys came into the forefront -- and though behind the scenes I'm going to be all for Vedder because that's how I roll, that doesn't undermine Cornell's participation in the creation and perpetuation of Grunge.

The way I see the Timbaland thing: An artist has complete license to dabble in as many genres and styles as he wants to... just don't expect us to jump on the bandwagon. :)

It's pretty lame though, isn't it? His last couple of albums have just been terrible. Every time I hear it, I wonder to myself, "He broke up Audioslave for this?"

That is pretty much exactly what I said in response to it.
