Quote:

It has become this year’s forgotten tragedy, an event of horrific magnitude that displayed no regard for its victims. It mattered not whether they were hard working salt-of-the-earth, make the world go round types, or world famous, high profile entertainers with household names. The disaster struck on May 1st and 2nd and Time magazine, in a prescient piece of reporting, predicted the story would never gain traction for several reasons. First, the life changing drama was overshadowed by two other events, the Times Square bombing attempt in New York City and the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion which claimed eleven lives. The unheralded Nashville floods took more than 30 lives, yet it was a disaster which never really caught the attention of the public or the media. The magazine surmised the flooding of the Cumberland River just didn’t have the “hooks” that a story needs to remain in the news for an extended period. In street terms it just wasn’t sexy enough. Sure, the picture of Kenny Chesney personally carrying some of his already damaged gear to safety was compelling, but only for an evening. The damage to the legendary Grand Ole Opry was nothing more than a quick blip on the radar too. It was as if the unimaginable billion dollars plus flooding of Music City never quite caught the public’s attention or the million miles an hour news cycle. We bet that many Americans still have no idea that just about ninety days ago much of downtown Nashville was buried under ten feet of water. Nashville was on its own.

Fortunately, there are some who’ve decided to help in any way they can and this week’s guests on ROCKLINE, Creed, can be counted in that group. In fact, they will have performed a benefit concert at the Hard Rock Cafe immediately before joining us not only providing much needed aid to many who need it, but beginning their much anticipated “20-10” tour as well. Learn more at Creed.com and their MySpace All proceeds will go to “Hands On Nashville”. By the way, the Hard Rock, as is the case with so many famous buildings in the area has been recently revamped, by necessity. The tour takes its name from the dramatically lowered ticket prices, all either $10 or $20 each. With the economy still in the tank that’s good news for more than just Nashville residents. Creed has been rehearsing in the Country Music Capitol and also working on a new summer single which they hope to release a couple of weeks into their tour, an addendum to their aptly titled comeback album, “Full Circle”. You should know that tickets for the Hard Rock concert on July 26 are $75 and $100 dollars, not $10 & $20, but we don’t think anyone will be complaining as America’s forgotten city and its people continue to rebuild in near anonymity, far from the national cameras, but oh so close to apathy.

Join us for Creed on our next ROCKLINE.

He definitely sounds better than he did last year. Still not back completely and he still struggled on some songs. I recorded the show and if you guys want it I can upload it for you. I know DK might have recorded it too but if not I can upload it. The file size is about 900 mb though so I think it will have to be split into several parts.

Re: Creed Live UStream in Nashville (7/26)

The concert is still on the Ustream page if you missed it. Ustream always archives all the broadcasts. The webchat from a while back is there too.

1. Scott sounded noticeably better than he did on the last tour. 2. They added another Full Circle song that they hadn't been playing before - Suddenly.

I don't see how there can be anything negative unless you haven't seen or heard Creed live since 2004.

Hey I am new to this forum. I love Creed though. Best rock band of our time. I saw the Nashville gig tonight and they were excellent. Scott struggled a bit. I didn't have the pleasure of seeing them live last year, so all I have to compare to is Creed of days gone by. Musically, their still the best. I am hoping Stapp's voice strengthens during the tour. I'll check em out in Jersey on Aug 17th.... can't wait!

Caught the interview with all but Stapp on 7/14/2010. Mark said he misses playing "Pity For A Dime" and Marshall agreed and then said, "Let's add it." So, I am hoping they do.

Thanks man! I waited for an hour on the phone, it was so worth it, it was so cool! I'm still excited ha! Does anyone else agree that it would be cool to hear weathered this year? I think it would be great, because erock and mark would make it sound great and Scott should be able to sing it really well.

Stapps voice is actually better than it has been for a couple years now. Check out the live DVD that came out last year and compare it to this performance you just saw. Imo he is much better. But I don't expect he will ever be as good as he used to be. But I'm over that now. I'm looking ahead now.

and welcome to the forums!

@nagpo I say this out of concern... the performance was embarrassing and hard to listen to... I understand Scott is going through a rough time with his voice but man it was tough. I had my cousin here who hasn't heard them live in a while & even he was shocked plus couldn't stop laughing at how bad it was. I think number 1 problem is... they need a click track, Flip is getting worse every time I hear him... such sloppyness on his part. The only positive I took from the concert was Stapp was holding notes better & at times he sounded like his old self (What If is a good example) BUT the downside is the pitchy-ness/hoarseness still remains and he can't sing a grueling set like that anymore especially since the guys are rushing like no tomorrow (plus cigs) ...you could tell he was struggling. Anyway enough rambling... for those about to flame me & say well DON'T LISTEN THEN! I say screw you... if you can't hear what's going then you're either tone deaf or oblivious. I actually care about the guys and how they're perceived but I'm not delusional enough to think they're playing up to their potential now... it's called honesty & I think the guys would respect that.

BSC 07-27-2010 09:18 AM

Re: Creed Live UStream in Nashville (7/26)

^ You are right, but the guy has improved alot since 2009. As much as I respect your opinion, that peformance was so much better than anything in 2009, take away the technical issues.

rangers41394 07-27-2010 11:41 AM

Re: Creed Live UStream in Nashville (7/26)

both jared and BSC are right...he did sound much better than last years tour...keep in mind he also just recorded that new song the past few days so his voice was prob not in tip top shape...i think he was just tryin to sing his heart out at that concert to show he can still sing...he needs to manage his vocals throughout the concerts of this tour so it can last and sound great throughout the concert cuz u can see a few songs in he starts to struggle...now yes it was embarressing i think jared that one of the most popular bands in the past decade sounded like that...i can understand how some people can just watch it and laugh cuz they prob havent heard stapps voice in awhile..so old fans basically expect 2002 scott....it was also embaressing how he forgot lyrics in overcome and suddenly...but in suddenly there was definitely sound issues and technical issues ran throughout the show...u can tell stapp was unhappy with how the sound was..however hopefully they can work out these kinks before tomorrow

Dark_Knight 07-27-2010 02:16 PM

Re: Creed Live UStream in Nashville (7/26)

I never said he didn't sound better... that's apparent, like I said he was holding notes better. I just wish he would just come out & speak on his vocal status instead of trying to cover it up... I would respect him a lot more for that.

Here's the show on YouTube:

Re: Creed Live UStream in Nashville (7/26)

I agree with you. I wonder if he has been told to not admit the problem? Maybe live nation or wind up don't want him to talk about it.

BSC 07-27-2010 04:32 PM

Re: Creed Live UStream in Nashville (7/26)

I don't see why he would tell everyone the problem. I just can't imagine him ever coming out and saying "Yeah, my voice isn't too great" that's gonna put off anyone who doesn't know Creed and is interested, or anyone about to book tickets for a concert.

It wouldn't be a matter of saying "Yeah I suck" lol it would be a matter of him explaining how is voice is holding up after the surgeries he's had & what his condition is now. If you noticed he has some sort of vocal spray on stage last night.

got time for :2cents: i agree with ya Dk, There Really Is No Way To Sugar Coat And White Whash A HARD, sitution, scott is and moving speed of being under pressure, all the time, there is a lot of divison going on, most others a good majortiy could,nt withstand many changes swiftly and fast as these guys have had it, they would either quit, or do something else, but they are holding and keeping moving and get out their to the fans, and singing what creeds all about, .....and im proud of,em it being so early in the tour, scotts voice will come back, its early still ,
:crest: :note: :crest: BLESSINGS AND STRENETH, to the guys in jesus name, with so many projects going on the creed acoustic album was a great idea, then stapps solo project, hopefully his voice heals through, this tour, and albums..... ROCK ON DK, thanks for posting your thoughts,

I noticed the spray at the NASCAR show. He was using it after most of the songs. I guess he figures explaining it would do more harm than good.
