Do you want Creed to continue?

Over on ABB.net there is some discussion about a Creed spring tour, and how that could mess up with Alter Bridge. I thought I would bring that discussion here. Obviously there is some huge bias over there.

Personally I cannot understand why they think Creed will get in the way of Alter Bridge. Michael Tremonti has said that there will be a new Alter Bridge album and world tour in 2010. So why can't Alter Bridge release the album, then Creed go tour, and then Alter Bridge? I see no problem with that. It's hardly getting in the way.

IMO, if the band members are happy, then so should the fans. It's their life, if Creed is their priorty, then so be it. If Alter Bridge is their priorty, then so be it. I'll be disappointed if either band splits up though.

What are your opinions?

I won't have an answer for that until I hear the entire Full Circle album. It's make or break for them, IMO.

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

I am very happy tp hear about a new spring tour. I love both bands, so honestly it is all good to me. I think at this time Creed has more to prove than AB. The reunion really just started. So perhaps they need more time to solidify things and make the most out of the new album. There will always be more time for AB and Scott's solo stuff.

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

Also when it's Creed turn to tour/record album Myles Kennedy will just do his solo stuff..

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

I agree, BSC, they all have side projects they can do when their not involved with Creed or Alter Bridge. Myles has a solo career, like Stapp does. So it should work out, and the only ones with a problem with it are some alter bridge fans that look for trouble all the time. Just like with the voice issue regarding stapp, that was done I'm sure for a purpose.

Agreed. I don't think they can last by touring on their first three albums. If Full Circle is a bomb, it will equal the end of Creed (or at least the end of touring larger venues - I supposed they could still play small 1,000 capacity venues heh)

Solution = don't go to abb.net

shadyogrady 10-04-2009 11:46 AM

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

I have a solution for the problem. They can have a concert featuring both bands. They can sell out large venues by having AB open for the first hour and a half and then have Creed play the remaining hour and a half. Everybody gets what they want and the bands sell a shit load of tickets.

sadly, that's where I have to go for Creed updates. There are a lot more active members on abb.net as in comparison to here :(

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

If (and I know this is a big IF), the record is promoted correctly, it will be a pretty good success.

This band did not sell 30-40 million records because their studio albums sucked.

I am in agreement with you guys that if this record should happen to flop, that would/should be the end of Creed.

I am also a fan of Alter Bridge, but there is no way they would ever have the success that Creed attained and I think that ego and pride are a huge motivating factor for the guys.

I just feel that once you have been to the top of the mountain, nothing will ever completely satisfy you until you get back on top.

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

Creed has said in recent interviews they are trying to rebulid their fanbase. How can they do that if they are going on a one and done tour. It doesnt make sense to go on this tour and breakfans hearts again. Creed has said they took for granted the success they have had in the past and want to continue in the future. As many people don't want to beleive it, Alter Bridge is now a side project..I think Full Circle is going to be awsome..and Stapp has said they havent made thier "Joshua Tree" album yet which to me means their will be more Creed records in the future..

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

Musically speaking, it sounds like this record may be better than their previous ones. However, it wouldn't surprise me if the album flops. It all depends on public perception. To a lot of people, Creed just screams 1999-2000. Yet, nostalgia may be on the band's side. Let's hope it is.

I think this album will make them and even it don't I'll still be a fan. BTW can't believe its october already.

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

The band's continued reunion does obviously ride on the success of the album but everybody's kind of missed the point of the original post. If Full Circle is a monumental success, how are they going to be able to quit and go back to Alter Bridge? They're going to pour energy into recording a new AB album and then go back to touring with Creed and then immediately tour as Alter Bridge? It just sounds like a very draining, exhausting schedule for Mark, Flip, and Brian.

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

have you guys forgotten what year it is? its 2009.. it doesn't matter if the new creed album is the best rock album ever made it won't do much for their popularity.... all that matters is the strength of your singles and how cool everyone thinks the band is. metallica hasn't made a good record in 20 years but everyone still buys their albums and goes to their concerts just because its metallica... creed doesn't quite have that type of following from their old stuff.

i think the new album will have to be better than their old stuff from what ive heard... i don't listen to scott stapps solo stuff but the rest of the band has gotten so much better since weathered, so im thinking the new album will be a lot better unless it's filled with pop songs like "stand here with me" and "dont stop dancing"

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

I don't think alternating between bands would be that exhausting...

Instead of doing a years worth of work with Alter Bridge, it will be something like 6 months of work with Alter Bridge, and 6 months with Creed..

It's all about dividing time.. Of course recording twice as many albums would be hard, but bands only release albums like every two years.

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

Yes & they will continue. The Spring tour is a go by the way, at least according to Scott & Mark.

Krisoz26 10-05-2009 08:08 PM

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

I would say they would have to. In a perfect world the album WOULD of been out before the tour began it wasn't. So if album sales soar if not in US but worldwide they wouldn't ignore the fans and make them wait til who knows when.

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

As a new member im probably going to be flamed to hell for this. But fuck Alter Bridge. I love Mark, Brian and Flip but I just don't get the Myles hype the man just isnt that good of a singer, especially live...he sounds like a dying cat. I don't think Full Circle will be a big success but i will be a first week buyer and im sure it will blow Alter Bridge out of the water musically. If you can listen to ODR and tell me "Find The Real", "Broken Wings", "Open Your Eyes" and more or less every other song on the album save for "Metallingus" would not sound better with Stapp on vocals then well....we are on twoooo different wave lengths haha. But to answer the question YES I do think creed should stay together and I think Alter Bridge should take a backseat to Creed.

Redeemer 10-07-2009 02:44 AM

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

Myles sounds like a dying cat live? Harsh. I certainly hope not, I love AB. And I think Kennedy is a fantastic singer, especially in a day and age where dynamic vocalists are few and far between. Not once have I imagined Stapp's vocals in place of Kennedy's.

I literally have no true opinion either way; I am going with the flow on this one. I missed this past tour because of financial constraints, so I would love to get another opportunity to see Creed play live (especially since it is a dream I have had since high school). That being said, I love AB as well and I would be just as happy if they forged on and left Creed behind.

It is what it is. Ultimately, I want all parties involved -- Stapp, Tremonti, Phillips, [...brain fart on the bassist's name, just crucify Me and get it over with], and Kennedy -- to be satisfied with their lives. That may or may not be possible considering the nature of the situation, but hope springs eternal, etc. etc.

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

I think Full Circle will be a great album based on hearing "Overcome", "Full Circle", "Rain", "Bread of Shame", and especially "A Thousand Faces". I believe this album will get critical success, but not come close to the old days of 6-11 million copies sold.

Hopefully, the album at least goes double platinum. You have to take into account how screwed Creed are right now. They don't get serious air play based on the grudges of certain stations from past incidents and because the rock genre is dying. I live in NY and we do not have ONE rock station anymore. We have a classic rock station, thats it. I haven't heard Creed in NYC in years. Hard to get the word out when you get no airplay.

The album will be good though, I am very confident of that.

you dont get the myles hype? he is a way better singer than scott stapp and he is a very good guitarist as well. he sounds like a dying cat live? are you really gonna go there? i've seen both bands live, myles sounds great live and he has a hearing problem that makes hearing certain tones/frequencies harder. scott stapp sounds horrible live just because hes a drunk, what does that say about the two singers.

i just can't believe you would say bad things about myles voice and then go and act like scott stapp is great, like really? someone needs to approach scott stapp and ask him to make fun of eddie vedder singing, do a bad impression of eddie vedder... about 2 seconds later he would realize that IS his voice, a bad impression of eddie vedder.

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

Myles is a VERY good guitar player but I just really dont like his voice. Scott Stapp used to sound amazing live, no singer could even touch him when he got into it and even today with the weird robot dances and his voice problems is still a better singer than Myles in my opinon (obviously...i'm saying it arent I). In all seriousness, fuck right off with the Eddie Vedder comparisons. There is NOTHING the two singer have incommon aside from a kinda low voice and a high level of ass kickery. So if a singer has a deep voice and sings rock music he is instantly an Eddie Vedder clone? I guess Myles ripped Chris Cornell off too right, they both have high raspy singing voices, totally the same. Sorry OP and the Creed Feed community for turning this into a flame thread :(

I think a lot of this Stapp hate is just AB fans who are mad that their band is taking a seat right now. Creed will always be greater than Alter Bridge.

I gotta admit, I am sick of that shit Myself -- always have been. Then again, I am sick of comparisons to begin with. Can no one be their own man anymore? -shaking head-

Know another thing I am sick of? This "Creed > AB" / "AB > Creed" bull. Get over yourselves, honestly.

Re: Do you want Creed to continue?

It's like comparing Van Halen and Van Hagar. Completely two different bands. You can like one, both, or none. I don't own any AB music other than one live recording and its pretty good but it's no Creed. Different in all aspects. I wouldn't purchase any AB music; don't care for the singer. Regarding Scott's voice, the comparison to early Led Zeppelin with late Led Zeppellin hit the nail on the head. Robert plant could have never sang " I can't quit you" in 1975. He did other great things in those years. As your voice changes, you learn to work around it. Same thing for early Queensryche and today's Queensryche. I love Creed music and Stapp's voice. I'm looking forward to hearing the new CD to see how the band changed to accomidate his older voice. "Overcome" is a great start so we'll see how it pans out.

If you haven't heard or listened to the band Procupine Tree, you're missing out. "Fear of a Blank Planet" and the new CD "The Incident" are awesome. Give'm a listen, you won't regret it.
