Troy Stetina books

Does anyone here have his books for beginners?

I dunno if I should go metal or rock, for a start.... I don't like metal, to be quite honest... but it seems the metal books are better to learn, aren't them?

considering I wanna go Tremonti/Submersed/3DD style...

Although I'd rather find a site with lessons (tabs) from the beginning for free :P maybe I should look harder

I don't know where to buy them other than his site, so I don't know where to get them. :/

musical instruments stores!

In the one store I went to, it was sold out... :( The guy said they'll receive it only in mid-January, due holidays and stuff...

I just ordered one book. The total rock book. It starts off with single finger chords and then progresses on. It has all sorts of sounds. Got it for like 12 bucks at amazon. Oh yeah it comes with a cd that plays the songs normal so you can hear and then it plays them slow so you can get the just of it.

Bridge of Clay 12-28-2003 02:47 PM

really? but are you a beginner too? on his site, www.stetina.com , you can hear some samples of 4 songs. if one book teaches you to play like that, we should all go for it ... I wouldn't mind staying in that novice's group! lol!

Alter Shredder 12-28-2003 03:08 PM

Yeah I am a beginner. I can play the first like 4 songs in the book. It starts off pretty easy. Like I said one finger stuff. The first songs are slow and easy to get. He then progresses and moves to more difficult stuff. My dad said he can hear a big improvement over where i was a month or two ago.

can you play that Strummer/Stummer one? Don't remember the exact title.. it's pretty cool! :)

What Creed songs can you play?

PS: Yeah, dads are supposed to say things like that! ;) j/k

Alter Shredder 12-28-2003 06:20 PM

Actually, no i havent reached the strummer song but its not that hard. I can play parts of it. Right now I am working on a song called Disturbed which is somewhat Creedesque. Ill see if i can post the audio or email it to you. I can basically play it all the way through with one or two errors. Um I havent really tried any creed songs. never thought I was good enough. I have taken some stabs at MOP, it was ok but not great. And my dad played a lot of guitar when he was younger (even got to practice on a few occasions with REO Speedwagon) so I know he wont lie when it comes to guitar.

Bridge of Clay 12-28-2003 09:33 PM

lol! cool! I bet he helps you a lot! I was just kidding, though.

wow! never tried Creed?

The only songs I can play are from Creed:

WTLF (full), OLB (full), WAWO picking parts, DSD (full), Ode intro, One, MOP intro (needs hardwork to improve), WTLF intro, What If intro... and I think that's it... oh, Never Die intro, but this one doesn't count...

There a few other songs I learned when I took lessons: Paranoid and Ironman from Ozzy, Rock n' roll (Led Zepellin), Twist and Shout and Day Tripper (Beatles)... that's it. At that time I was taught a couple Deep Purple songs, but I don't remember how to play them anymore... :(

You should try WTLF, it's pretty basic stuff. You can do it for sure.

Bridge of Clay 12-29-2003 04:44 PM

boy, I'm having a hard time to find that book... every store I call says that due Christmas, I'll have to wait the next shipment... about Jan 15th... they sold everything on the holidays... :(

are there PDF files of his book?

I can play the intro riff to whats this life for. I'm not sure if it's how you really play it, but it's so dam close.

Can you hammer very well? Or alternate chords? All hammering means is that you hold a note down with your index finger, then with your ring finger tap the note. Like van halen style.

And way heres how I go about the intro riff to whats this life for.

F chord on the third fret down from the nut (in standard tuning), then you hit the e string open and dirrectly go to a D chord, then hammer with a Dsus4. Then you go up and a Am oh say 4 frets and then a D9 up another 4 frets. I can try and tab it, but unfortunately I'm not good on tabs, but I have been playing for three years.

YAYNESS!!!

This Christmas rocked! Although I paid with my own money... hehehe

I found a store that only sells song books! And it had Total Guitar Rock!!! woooo-hoooo! I paid about 21 USD... 63 REAIS... but it's worthy!

That street is musician's paradise: it has at least 3 music stores for block! Then I also bought an eletric tuner! :smokin:
