I say thank you, Kurt, for saving us from the hair, and for those that haven't listened to Unplugged, give it a try. But what do I know, I like St. Anger.

St. Anger sucked hard!

I only like a few of Nirvana's songs, but it doesn't matter what kind of band they were, anyway.

I saw this documentry months ago about Kurt, his friends, Courtney, and his daughter, etc, and before I watched this documentry about him, I had never really thought much about what happened to him, I just thought, "stupid druggie", but now, after watching this doc, it makes me think about Kurt differently, it brought me to tears and everything about it makes me feel sad. I don't know why, but it hits my soft spot after seeing this doco.

Thanks for posting that, some of that stuff on that website are really sad, especailly the Greenhouse Diagram, and his note.

RIP, Kurt Cobain.

Yeah, I hate it when people just think some of these people were only about drugs. They were human beings who had friends and family just like everybody else and they got caught up in something really awful. And it fricken killed them. There are millions in the same boat, but their experiences just aren't as public as those of Layne and Kurt's and other celebrities and artist. They were so much more about their art than the drugs. It's a shame that the media focus on the drugs under the guise of sales.

Decent band and all, but for some reason everyone claims that they started the new sound aka 'grunge'. Come on. Their first album was a below average punkish record, highly influenced by DC area punk of late 80ies. 'Nevermind', their first good album, and supposed start of the new sound was released AFTER AIC and Pearl Jam released Facelift and Ten respectivly.
Nivana was a decent band, that scored a huge hit, was an MTV darling, so they got even more famous, and also had a 'martyr' figure.

All the lists of top 100 guitar playes of all time with Kurt in top 10 are bogous -- he was a decent guitar player, but that's where it stops. Same goes for him being called an awesome singer -- his voice had fit his songs, we all got so used to, but other three big grunge bands had MUCH more proficient singers. Lets just give credit where it's due.

Basically -- good songs, good band, but just because they were big and than their singer killed themselfs it doesnt make them larger than life band that can be put on the level of say Led Zeppelin.

flame away now...

I Definately have to agree w/ you lech... and dude... The Rolling Stone List... SUCKED.... Kurt really shouldn't have been on that list at all...IMO...

Why exactly are you talking about Metallica in a thread about Kurt Cobain, which was NIRVANA?

That's what I sort of thought before I saw this doco. But I only thought that because that is what I heard, everywhere, TV, newspapers, magazines, internet, radio stations, do you know what I mean? Pretty much all I heard about Kurt was that he was a junkie and that was all he lived for, etc. It really sucked and I couldn't believe it after I saw this doco. (I'm sorry, I know I keep on going on about it, but it really did change my perspective).

Yeah, that's true. And it would have made it worse, obviously, being a star isn't all it's cracked up to be some of the times.

Totally, is is a shame, it's actually quite a disgrace, I think.

Dogstar 04-07-2004 03:54 AM

Yes, it is a disgrace, Hayley...That's probably why you thought what you did about Kurt because that's all the radio/TV/mags ever focused on. It's sad, really.

JenRN 04-07-2004 09:29 AM

I was never a Nirvanan fan, agree with Lech again......... geez what is up with that! LOL

Anyways......I am not a huge grunge fan, never was. I am more the old school rock kind of girl. I do think there is more to his death than suicide though.... and why is it that our society immortalizes those with such issues and problems, just curious?

'Cause of some reason Trees said that St.Anger sucked hard. And St.Anger is Metallica!
