*NEW* Creed video - back to the puzzle!

Another local producer, Ed Blakely, recently returned from a music video shoot in Tallahasse for both the Florida-based rock band Creed and up-and-comers Big Dismal.

Chapel Hill filmmaker Norwood Cheek directed the project and Los Angeles cinematographer Shawn Maurer (who was also behind the camera on Bring It On) shot it. The videos are scheduled to coincide with the upcoming release of each artists’ new CDs in early 2004.

Locations in and around Tallahassee included an abandoned truck stop, a dilapidated motel, a small rural airport and a portion of north Florida’s Big Dismal sinkhole.

Among the shoot’s highlights? Watching young women swarm Creed at a bar, Mr. Blakely said.

Blame it on the pit, if you don't like it. I got it from their board.

Below, it's me talking:
Now, to make more confusion:
-It seems Big Dismal broke up as well
-Path is open to Stapp join Big Dismal: he produced their album and the band has spiritual influences as well.
-The reporter also answered this girl:Dear Anita:
"The producer said that segments of the video did use the band Creed. He said he didn't know anything about an album but that some material was used in the shoot.
I hope that helps,
Allison Ballard"
-Shouldn't someone find out if Dave Meyers shot this "video"?

yay hey hey! this board shall not be boring the next few days: let's see what come up of this.

DangerousDan85 12-15-2003 08:12 PM

hmmm, interesting

Wylde-Tremonti 12-15-2003 08:30 PM

i'm sorry...but i really didnt grasp any of that????????????????????
can someone explain that in another simpler form?...i dont know if i'm just REALLY tired...or maybe my brain fell out saturday....???

creedlvr 12-15-2003 08:43 PM

I must say I am a bit "foggy" on the whole thing too.

Dogstar 12-15-2003 08:47 PM

Well, the details seem to be missing, like when it was done, what's the name of the song, what *new* album the song will be on...I e-mailed the writer with these questions, so hopefully I'll get a response.

Higher_Desire 12-15-2003 08:52 PM

I'm confused, too. It seems as though Big Dismal and Creed have made new videos. It also seems that BD is no longer together and that Stapp may be becoming the new lead singer for them.

Ok, I"m not sure yet how to copy a link to a website here but if you go to the above site, you'll see an article from a Wilmington, NC newspaper, dated today with regard to the post above. I don't know anymore than you folks, and I'm just as confused by this story. Scroll down.

Dogstar 12-15-2003 09:03 PM

The story is full of holes for one thing. Also, I don't know if that's like other columns, where it's just updated every few days or so. That could be an old item, but it's hard to tell from the way it's structured.

Wylde-Tremonti 12-15-2003 09:04 PM

this all kinda seems strange.... considering everything.... i know i'm stating the obvious....but yeah

Frankie 12-15-2003 10:18 PM

Big Dismal is still together. Their bb is active...the band members post...Wind-up is releasing a new single in January.
Scott did produce for Big Dismal previously.
The story appears to be recent...the writer has responded to a couple of e-mails. I have e-mailed her too, to see if she can clear things up...such as by "Creed" did she mean the entire band...or was she just refering to one member i.e. Scott as "Creed"? Perhaps Scott is still involved with Big Dismal on the producing end and was there for the filming of the video. But that does not explain the mention of a "Creed Video".
I am the one who originally posted the story, and we have been "investigating/googling" to find more...but no luck.
The article said the director was Norwood Cheek.
If I hear back from the writer I will let you know what she said.

It appears to be fairly recent since the article does mention that the bands have upcoming new releases for early 2004. But overall the whole thing is really vague and is not very clear. I hope someone gets some answers soon.

hide 12-15-2003 11:16 PM

this is very strange but I didn't think that Creed's anthology was due until near the end of 2004. If they are shooting a video already surely it must be coming out fairly soon! Once again I wouldn't pay too much attention to the pit apoligies to the pitters amongst us, it doesn't make sense that he would join Big Dismal since they are a christian rock band, not a rock band with christian influences. Perhaps as a side-project but he was probably there on a professional capacity ie: producing or perhaps socially!

TeriB19 12-15-2003 11:19 PM

I also question the legitimacy of the story, considering the fact that if it's an anthology, what video would they be shooting? And if the rumors are correct and Mark hasn't seen or spoken to Stapp in weeks, how could the be making a video now?

Frankie 12-15-2003 11:25 PM

Hide...NO ONE said Scott was joining Big Dismal...just mentioned that he did produce for them before. And like I said maybe saying "Creed" but only meaning individual members of Creed...

Didnt the press release say that some unreleased material would be part of the anthology, so it could be for that. Or they could be doing a video for a song that they never did a video for (like Is this the end?, bound and tied, or such forth) that they are including in the anthology.

hide 12-15-2003 11:29 PM

The press release sent out by Creed Ink said that there would be new compostions ie: new songs on the anthology so it makes sense that there would be a new video but this soon?

facelessman 12-16-2003 12:47 AM

im lost

Higher_Desire 12-16-2003 02:12 AM

Now I just read a post at the Pit that said BD broke up about a year ago? :wtf: wtf: Apparently there was a thread in there somewhere about 2 months ago that either Wind-Up or BD sent out a thing saying they had "parted ways."

What the hell is going on???

H-D :xmas:

hayley 12-16-2003 02:13 AM

Yeah same here

:help:

zhoya 12-16-2003 11:14 AM

I think the reason we're all confused is because this tidbit doesn't add up with the information we had previously. But who knows anymore? Hopefully she'll reply to the emails and clarify, but as it stands, the story is in the realm of the possible. :smokin:

LOL Why would you blame the Pit for a news story that someone else wrote?

PS Nice board :D

Sheila63 12-16-2003 11:48 AM

Welcome, zhoya.:D I think you're right, we need clarification. Hopefully the reporter/writer will respond to the emails and clear things up. Thank you Dogstar and Frankie for sending an email to her.:)

Dogstar 12-16-2003 04:12 PM

I just got this back from Allison Ballard, the woman who wrote the item for the Star-News in N.C.:

The Wilmington producer said that two projects were shot in Florida last week. The primary one was a music video for Big Dismal, a song called Just the Same. The other piece was of members of Creed -- elements for a promotion piece for the record label. Don't know much more than that.

So, it doesn't really sound as if this was an actual Creed music video. Probably promo stuff for the anthology and such.

hide 12-16-2003 05:35 PM

oh okay i guess that makes sense but I still would like would like some clarfication as to when this anthology is going to be released. As to that info about Creed breaking up a year ago that has be lost. Surely if that was the case we would have been told they would have just have got off the road at that point!

Agent D 12-16-2003 06:50 PM

So confused... :wtf:

Bridge of Clay 12-16-2003 08:23 PM

ok, people. breath! some confusion popped up for people not reading the posts accurately:

1-Nobody said Creed broke up
2-I was the one who said, IF the journalist had confused Creed with only Stapp, would stapp getting together with the rest of Big Dismal. I raised a question, not a statement.
3-But Big Dismal didn't break up, they took a break to move on with their tour in the beginning of 2004.
4-The link for the article was on the very first post of this thread

I'm glad Dogstar got a more specific answer to clarify the issue: so it's not a video. Considering the members of Creed were there is a good sign. The thing about Mark and Stapp not talking for a long time is relative: the week after the fuss began, Michael said the last time Mark and Stapp talked on the phone was a couple weeks before the date he posted. So it's been over 2 weeks... in this period, who guarantees except for their close friends that they didn't chat again??? And the newsletter stated that new compositions were to be recorded. Further, K-ROQ guy said they would record ONE song...

At least the board got some spice for this last couple days! ;)

Zhoya: I wasn't blamming on the pit. I meant that if people didn't like the news, to blame it on the pit, since everything is new, good or bad, sounds like it's pit's blame. C'mon, even Saddam was found in the pit! :D hehehe j/k

Best regards to all of you.

PS: :( I could use a new Creed video! ;)

creedsister 12-16-2003 08:47 PM

Again it still beats the hell out of me,,

hayley 12-17-2003 12:29 AM

Yeah JESUS!!! How confusing, but we all shouldn't get all wound up and thinking of all the possibilities, the stories, just hold tight, and wait.

hide 12-17-2003 12:44 AM

i think tremonti fed's post should be read by everyone too many are getting worked up. no-one that should be listened to said that Creed have broken up, we have been promised new material and that has been confirmed by a DJ from a US station, but I would love more then one new song but such is life!

Dogstar 12-17-2003 01:05 AM

Yeah, her news item raised more questions than it answered, which is why I e-mailed her.

hide 12-17-2003 01:18 AM

sersiously how hard would it be for Wind-Up or Creed Ink to send us a short email clarifying all of this? I guess all this talk helps reduce their marketing costs :ie because of word of mouth but this getting a little annoying.

Saying that I think we can safely say that Creed have not broken up but whether this is for the DVD or CD i'm not sure? The news item said new cd's coming out in 2004 but that seems to conflict with Dogstar's email.

zhoya 12-17-2003 07:17 AM

Thanks for the welcome Sheila

Okay I get it now lol :p

I'm thinking the writer got confused too. I know Mark was definately not there.

Michael

Frankie 12-17-2003 06:11 PM

Ok Everyone...I went straight to the horses's mouth...a response to an e-mail that I sent to the producer the article was about. Please take the time to actually read what he said. Promotional material...no entire band was there. Since michael eliminated mark...and the ladies were swarming...my money would be on Scott. LOL

From Mr. Blakely

"In actuality, we were there to shoot a music video for another Tallahassee-based WindUp artist, Big Dismal. This also involved shooting some promotional material for some of the label / management co.'s other artists, nothing which included ENTIRE bands. Cannot really tell you much more about it other than I doubt that it should be taken as a signal that anything new is yet in the works for the group you're asking about.
Wouldn't be knowledgeable of that. Sorry I can't enlighten you any further."

Rain 12-17-2003 06:25 PM

Hmmm..scratches head..

Dogstar 12-17-2003 06:48 PM

Yeah, the e-mail I got from the writer didn't specify who from Creed was at the shoot, just *members*.

Bridge of Clay 12-17-2003 07:11 PM

My money is on Stapp...

(sees Stapp/Big Dismal merge happening on the horizon... could be an illusion as well)

Dogstar 12-17-2003 07:19 PM

Mine, too, Marcos.
