Mr. Prophet Man 05-17-2004 06:37 PM

should alterbridge do creed covers on tour?

????

Julbright 05-17-2004 06:51 PM

You are treading on hazardous ground there aren't you? Isn't it bad enough that Alterbridge is essentially Creed minus my Scottie - now you are suggesting they use Creed music on tour - NO WAY JOSE!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Alter Shredder 05-17-2004 06:58 PM

Essentially mark and the boys are trying to break away from the creed thing with this side project so doing creed covers just wouldnt work. not to mention you have to have stapp doing his vocals on the songs. Now if Alterbridge wanted to do creed songs that were never released on any cd, then i wouldnt have a problem with that.

Trees of Wisdom 05-17-2004 07:12 PM

That'd be cool. They could improvise the music. Although it'd be a slap in the face to Scott Stapp.

cjme 05-17-2004 07:17 PM

absolutely not!

LMAO!!!!!

Definately NOT!!!

Without THE ultimate sound(of Creed!): Scott's voice!! It would sound hilarious!

Scott himself could get away with it easily, singing Creed songs... but not Alter Bridge!! LOL!!!

You just crack me up!!

Gabriel 05-17-2004 08:42 PM

I can tell you that absolutely no Creed covers will be played by Alter Bridge.

Thank God.

Thanks for the headsup, Michael.

Shadow 05-17-2004 08:59 PM

I don't think I would want to hear Creed songs sung by anyone but Scott.

RockGoddess 05-17-2004 10:30 PM

Thank you Michael.

aussiecreeder 05-18-2004 12:14 AM

thanks Michael but I honestly would like to see them cover Creed songs because

a)i want to hear those songs in concert
b)creed has being a big part of their lives and who better to cover creed?
c)they will only have one album to tour plus b-sides (so what 15 songs?) so some covers are going to have to be played. why not play some creed and mayfield four plus some classics such as zeppelin, metallica and the like?

oh well guess the issue has being decided..... :(

aussiecreeder 05-18-2004 12:33 AM

any chance of some mf4 covers then?

Higher_Desire 05-18-2004 12:41 AM

Hmmmm, interesting question. Although it may be neat, ultimately, I think they shouldn't. Unless they were totally written by Mark. Hey, what are the chances of AB playing Before I die? :D

lol "before i die" what a fine comedic moment! :D doen't matter imo if they were not written by mark 100% good songs that mark helped to write and flip and brian also had a hand in. could play torn? that would test myles......

My thoughts exactly Shadow!

On the other hand... AB cover some Mayfield Four songs... that's NOT a bad idea IMO!

:note: ...Don't walk away, Don't walk away
I surrender, to you today...
This bended knee is breaking me
I'll surrender, I surrender.... :note:

*sigh* ...love that song!

that song is fantastic, i also would love to hear "mars hotel", "overflow", "summergirl" or "backslide".

creedsister 05-18-2004 12:11 PM

uh nooooooooooooooooooooo

Thats My final Anwser!!!! thats to Werid

Creed_Defaultgirl 05-18-2004 10:59 PM

Torn wouldn't be right if Scott didn't sing it. Even though Mark wrote it, Scott sings it. Scott sings Creed songs. If I went to an AB concert and they played a Creed song, I'd probably break down crying! But, it's good to hear that won't happen!

creedman 05-18-2004 11:45 PM

Myles playing Stapp. HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!! Slap in the Face! (BULLETS)

shiver 05-19-2004 01:52 AM

It wouldn't be right on many levels. They're not Creed. They're not a coverband. Stapp is a do...Uh...Doh!

Anywho If I was in AB, I wouldn't want to cover Creed because thats not the audience I want to cater to, necesarily. I want to distance myself. I like Creed because I thought they had a good sound and some really good, clean lyrics. I became a fan of Tremonti, probably because I play guitar, and I know what he can do, and I think know is the time for him to show people that. The best way AB can survive and not hurt their image is to play NO Creed WHATSOEVER!

i don't really see the big deal for example Velvet Revolver covers both GNR and STP and their fanbase doesn't care as much as you guys.

shiver 05-19-2004 02:25 PM

Okay, first off, Stapp isn't all that great. I used to stick up for him when everyone said Creed, specifically Stapp, was a Pearl Jam rip-off. After seeing him on some of these TV appearances and interviews and such, I think the guy is a jerk, and all he's after is to be a rock star. When I heard about AB, or Stappless Creed, I thought this is cool. Stapp didn't make Creed, everybody else did. You could put anybody else with a raspy voice in his place and it would work. I haven''t had the opputunity to listen to Myles yet, but from what everybody says he's awesome, and he's a good guy. Stapp MIGHT have been in '97, but he's not now.

Jooji_2 05-19-2004 04:00 PM

So what is Alterbridge after???????

Sorry but I beg to differ on who made Creed...and by that I don't mean that Stapp did it by himself either.

shiver 05-19-2004 04:33 PM

Alter Bridge is after a totally new audience. Obviously they want the Creedfeeders and the Mayfield crew, but they also want the ones that don't like Creed. And they will get those people.

And to respond about who made Creed, their are quite a few people on this board, so in love with Stapp that they think he is Creed. Wake up folks.

Unforgiven Fan 05-19-2004 05:36 PM

so let me get this straight...because I have not been here in a long time....alterbridge is the band that mark put together with flip and brain???

shiver 05-19-2004 06:34 PM

Yes. Flip and Brain. Heh.

Dogstar 05-19-2004 09:17 PM

I would think they'd want to move forward and make it on their new music, not live in the past. It's a new chapter for all of them.

yeah i can understand that but as i stated earlier other bands cover their former groups (and one is their old band with a new singer) and its not merely trading on the past. they are going to have play covers anyway with only 15 songs to choose from! metallica covers? :D

Dogstar 05-19-2004 09:56 PM

Heh, they could be like APC and do some Ozzy. That's what they did on their first tour with NIN...:D

hey some Black Sabbath would be sweet! :D

how bout?

Iron Maiden
Led Zeppelin
Metallica
Aerosmith (old stuff only no dodgy new crap) :)
Soundgarden (if myles doesn't mind)

if they want a 20 song set then they need some covers!

You are sooo clueless. There wouldn't be a Creed without Scott Stapp. He wrote 95% of the lyrics for MOP. So your comment "everybody else did" means Stapp had nothing to do with it :wtf:

Again, you are sooo clueless. Everyone on this board knows that Scott Stapp is not Creed. Creed is/was Scott, Mark, Flip (and Brian). So, I think your comment is way off base. You should wake up.

I'm liking those suggestions! Mark's a big Metallica fan, too, so that would be really cool. APC did a part of Master of Puppets when they were messing around at the end of one of their shows :D. Anything's possible ;).

yeah a Metallica cover or two is highly probable and this Metalingus might have a Metallica (early stuff) sound to it you never know. How bout Zep's Dazed and Confused? Myles could nail Plants vocal style......

Unforgiven Fan 05-20-2004 01:52 PM

okay so alterbridge is the 3 good guys of creed...so therefore they should, if they want, play anything from the begining of Creed to Brian leaving....
