Does anyone know what Scott was saying in the back room when Carrie Fisher was in there? She was talking about how "God knows" Tom Green was lucky in love and that "God knows " she is lucky too because she's been married for so many years. Then Scott was mumbling something in the background that sounded like "something something 'God's band.'" When I replayed it, is sounded like he said "I used to be in God's band."

Does anyone know what I'm talking about or what Scott said? I know they were all just being funny ... and the God's band thing I'm sure was just sarcastic because that's what so many people think and they just can't seem to get away from it .... but the "I used to" is the part that bothered me. Maybe I heard wrong ... or maybe there is our confirmation about the rumors.

Let me know if anyone heard it.

crest tattoo 01-07-2004 11:26 PM

I listened to it over and over, and I got about the same thing. Very hard to understand when he was being talked over a bit???? What does that mean, if that's what he said, "God knows...blah, blah...being in God's band?" Not sure I got the "used to be" part.

creedlvr 01-07-2004 11:42 PM

I don't know what it means. I listened to it over and over as well. All I can get from it is like I said above ... I used to be in God's band.

It seemed like since Carrie Fisher was talking about God so much "God knows this ... God knows that" ... and we know that is one of Scott's top subjects ... that he chimed in with that statement to show that he, like the others she was pointing out, had some connection with God too. Obviously, just trying to be part of the conversation and be goofy ... but I just hope I'm wrong about the "used to" part.

When was this filmed?

hide 01-07-2004 11:49 PM

your probably just reading too much into it or it at least hope so!

hayley 01-07-2004 11:58 PM

"I used to be in God's band" Holy crap I hope you've got a hearing problem. :(

creedlvr 01-08-2004 12:05 AM

I hope so too! :(

hayley 01-08-2004 02:27 AM

Geesh...keep on listening to it again and again to see if you can get what he said clearly

crest tattoo 01-08-2004 07:53 AM

I still don't hear the "used to." I just hear "in God's band." He couldn've said he knows what it's like to "march in God's band" for all I got??

Julbright 01-08-2004 08:40 AM

I haven't had the chance to watch it again without little ones present so that kind of listening has been out of the question - I will try later - Next time it airs -- it airs alot - maybe one of us could catch it and turn on the closed captioning????? Also, it is possible he said it was in God's hands - like the odds were in his favor but he lost anyway so it was in GOd's hands??? Just a thought - I will submit my opinion when I get to watch it without distraction.

mushroomy2k 01-08-2004 09:34 AM

i didnt get to see the show i have basic cable but saw the stills
im proud of scott and everyone for trying there best.
plus he may not have won the big pot but at least he seemed to be having fun and at least recieved 5000 for wawo foundation. :)

Now why didn't I think of that!?!?? That's a great idea! I just wonder if the closed caption will even get it since there were 3 people talking at once. When I get home from work tonight, I will listen to it again with that option set and will be sure to give a full update!

FYI - The "used to" part that I'm hearing is when the others are still talking so you really have to be focused on Scott to hear it. The "God's band" part seems to be more clear because the others aren't talking anymore.

Again ... I hope I'm wrong!!! :(

Ok here is a smiley synopsis of Scott's appearance on Celebrity Poker (warning: some material may be offensive to people who think Scott walks on water and can do no wrong so please - not recommeded for delusional Stapp lovers!) I HAVE TO POST IN PARTS BECAUSE IT SAYS I HAVE TOO MANY IMAGES FOR ONE POST

Scott walked out on stage giving the double rock on

He played aggressively :hammer: and won big the first hand.

Then they interviewed him and he said he has never lost at anything in his life. He admitted he doesn't play poker but said he was gonna read about it and he was gonna win. :suave: :smokin: (this is Scott coming off as arrogant - whether he was told to be or not - he was - and oh yeah he is smoking here - creative license for my recap - he wasn't smoking on the show but we all now know he does smoke - oh wait that's another thread - ok back to poker)

Julbright 01-08-2004 11:04 AM

Tom Green asked how to get a drink and Scott makes a very obvious comment about the drink server who was basically a vegas showgirl type with very skimpy clothing on - Stapp says she right there you can't miss her :eyes: :pimp: It was clear what he was thinking about :naughty: :flasher: :pant:

Julbright 01-08-2004 11:05 AM

Then the poker got hot and heavy and Stapp was a bit  He made risky bets and although he had the odds in his favor much of the time he lost pretty much every hand after that. When he was thinking about his hand - he looked like this  :nutty: :nut: :p yes that would be his tongue sticking out - and contrary to what one healthy woman would think it was not all that attractive to see that tongue hanging out in such a manner. He really needed some :help: and at one point he actually asked the others what he should do - to bet or not on his hand.

Julbright 01-08-2004 11:06 AM

Scott was surprised to lose several times - he seemed to think he won and was shocked and taken aback when they said someone else won. I thought for a split second he was going to be  but he did handle himself nicely and would be a good sport

Some would say he seemd a little :dorky: and clueless :dunno: and should feel a little embarrassed :paperbag:

When he was eliminated, he joined Tom Green in the lounge  :drunk: where he probably ended up :drunk2: by the end of the evening ( this is pure speculation on my part - and it is not a judgement - I would get drunk in vegas too - so just take a :chillpill: ok? )

Thanks! I knew I could count on you to answer that! :D

I thought knowing the timing would help to clarify if it was possible Creed was already having "issues" when this was filmed ... it does seem possible.

Julbright 01-08-2004 11:10 AM

So, even though he didn't win the big pot for WAWOF - he did win $5000 for them and we got to see him!

Julbright 01-08-2004 11:11 AM

Sometimes I feel like I'd like to :slap: him upside the head and get him to snap out of whatever it is he seems to be going through. BUT he is still my Scottie :stapp:  and I will always :luv: him! I am a devoted :stappchic: and would still love to :makeout: with him any time. :pant: He is so important to me  :thud: and I would worship the ground he walks on if it was ever near enough to me :bow2:

Thanks for the recap. Here's my take on "your take" ... ;)

I really didn't think it was arrogance. I think he was told to be goofy and was in a sense picking on himself because he knew he didn't know how to play. The "reading the book thing" was like ..."I'm gonna read the rules, and then watch out!" ... jokingly.

Quote:

Was he?? I didn't catch that. I thought we didn't know for sure that he still smokes because we weren't sure when "THAT" pic was taken. Oh well ... :dunno:

No blinders on here, but just a comment....
If you happened to watch the other four episodes that preceded this one, when they do the little interviews with the other players, they ALL came off as a little arrogant. I'm sure this was somewhat scripted by the creators of the show in order to build up our anticipation of how agressive the players would be. Who would want to watch someone mope about not being good enough to hold their own in the group? Confidence is ALWAYS more attractive than apathy.

Could be ... but if I saw a girl that looked a bit "voluptuous" even if I didn't think she necessarily looked good ... I would still say you can't miss her.

Okay ... maybe I don't want to think my Scott looks at girls that way. Well then again ... I also don't want to think that he doesn't look at girls that way. :glasses: (<--- these are rose-colored! :D)

He really didn't win anything. All the "losers" automatically received $5,000 just for being on the show. Oh well ... take it however you can get it!

Close enough Jez...Taping was from October 17th to the 19th...well before the break-up rumors.
Carrie was talking about everyone having connections to God...pretty sure all Scott said was I'm in a God band...probably referring to how many times he has heard it.

"If you happened to watch the other four episodes that preceded this one, when they do the little interviews with the other players, they ALL came off as a little arrogant. I'm sure this was somewhat scripted by the creators of the show..."

And as one who watched all previous episodes...Jez is exactly right...ALL of the players made statements along the same vein...appearing to be scripted.
Scott looked and sounded great...and again put himself out there to be scrutinized for every word and every action.
And show me a man who wouldn't notice a girl in a room dressed like the drink girl was...and I'll show you Stevie Wonder

Julbright 01-08-2004 12:06 PM

arrogance

I realize that they were supposed to be talking smack in their little interview segments - and it was funny. I was trying to be funny but in that I still think his personality comes off that way depending on how you interpret it. I too find his confident presence very attractive. Perception, however, is more powerful sometimes than reality and he has a tendency to turn people off who don't know him by that presence. AND - given how the game turned out - it makes that segment even more pronounced. Just MO

We are going to have to start having relaxation workshops around here - I WAS FRIGGIN KIDDING PEOPLE! I was exaggerating all the stuff trying to be funny!!! Good grief. I know that most men (AND women) would notice a women like that but did he have to say it like that on national television??? It really is no skin off my nose but I just wanted to hang on every word he said and those were not what I was looking for!! :)

Charmin 01-08-2004 01:41 PM

I didn't get to see it--I don't get Bravo

But, I think I would have just been happy to see him

I would place no judgement on the way the man looks or plays - I'm no beauty queen or promising poker player myself.
:)

but a tape is on its way. Yeah Charmin, you would think that people would just be glad to see him. I tell ya he must be a glutton for punishment, cause you know he has to know that people will pick apart everything he says and does, but he still did it anyway. I guess people were expecting him to sit there and say nothing and notice no one around him....just not interact? If he had done that not only would he be arrogant, but they would say he was antisocial too. :wtf:

My :2cents: for anyone who cares. In the interview segment, Scott was obviously mugging for the camera. I totally don't think he was being serious. I have watched the other shows and they all do act goofy and I think they are told to look cocky and act silly. As for the cocktail server, hello? Did anyone see her when they showed her in the 'Loser's Lounge' before the play actually started?? Hell if I were a man, I'd have a hard time missing her too. She was wearing a silver outfit and her boobs were practically falling out of it. If Scott didn't say what he said, people would probably be talking about him being gay. This man cannot win!
