Music / CD News Creed on Skynard Tribute Album
Posted on 06-06-2003 at 11:38 PM

Creed is the latest band to be added to the upcoming rock tribute album to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Creed joins Metallica, Kid Rock, 3 Doors Down, and others on the project which should be released late this year or early in 2004. It's unknown what song Creed will cover.

Lynyrd Skynyrd singer-guitarist Rickey Medlocke says he's flattered that younger acts like these have decided to pay their respects to his band in this way: "I think that when you get Kid Rock, and Metallica, and Creed, and 3 Doors Down, and all these people doing a song, you know, that they're doing for you, you know, in tribute to you...these guys I respect a lot, so it's a real honor for us."

Along with the rock tribute album to Skynyrd, another tribute album is being assembled from the jam band scene. That collection will feature Gov't Mule, Widespread Panic, Moe. and John Hiatt, among others. The jam band tribute, like the rock tribute, should be out later this year or early next year.
