Life-changing lyrics
Hey everyone....I was sitting at my comp thinking about what Creed's lyrics have done for me. So I decided to post a thread about it because I wanted to know how it affected everyone else. I'm just gonna list some songs and portions of the lyrics that affect me in a certain way. So here goes....
Torn Lies, are what they tell me To me, that phrase is like questioning everything society tells us. Maybe that's not what Stapp meant for it, but that's what it makes me think about it. I think the meaning and lyrics behind this song are very deep (as are many of the songs on MOP) and that's why it is one of my favorites. There isn't a certain line in the lyrics that I like most, I just like the general feeling of the song. My Own Prison I cry out to god seeking only his decision, Gabriel stands and confirms, I've created my own prison. This song has some really awesome lyrics. This song is simply poetry. It's pretty damn beatiful....but I think that certain selection I picked really speaks to me. Its a common feeling that I, personally, have a lot. When I look back on your life and everything I've done, I have a lot of regrets. There are parts of me that I don't like. I know that everything in my life that I don't like is no one else's fault but mine. That's why this song is somethign I can really relate to, and I'm sure pretty much everyone feels that way sometimes. What's This Life For? I won't put any specific lyrics up, because the title (and chorus) is just a really thought-provoking phrase. Sometimes I really wonder why I was put on this Earth. This song gives me hope and gives me the assurance that there is a life after anything that your going through. What If I know I can't hold the hate inside my mind, Cause what consumes your thoughts controls your life Man, I love this song. Again...I don't know if this was Stapp's meaning when he wrote the lyrics, but to me it means that people will you give you shit because they are jealous of you and what you've done with your life. The lyrics I picked to represent this song also just says that you can't live a happy life while holding grudges. With Arms Wide Open If I had just one wish, Only one demand, I hope he's not like me... Every time I hear that part after the guitar solo, I get shivers down my spine. As some of you know, I am only 15. Obviously I don't know what it's like to be a parent. But I just like the phrase "I hope he's not like me"....and because I'm still young, it makes me think about what I can do with the rest of my life, I still have a lot ahead of me. I have chances to make huge mistakes, but I also have chances to do great things with my life. Bullets I think they shoot 'cause they want it... This songs meaning, to me, is very similar to What If. I like the phrase "I think they shoot 'cause they want it" because to me it just means "they hate me because they are jealous". Weathered The sun shines and I can't avoid the light, I think I'm holding on to life too tight, Ashes to ashes and dust to dust, Sometimes I feel like giving up This song has some really cool lyrics. All the verses have awesome use of words. That verse is probably my favorite because of the last line. It kind of is the feeling of the song. The song is about how hard life is and what you have to go through, and that you need to go through a lot of shit and come out on top. This is probably my favorite Creed song, always has been. Don't Stop Dancing I know I must go on, Although I hurt I must be strong, Because inside I know, that many feel this way This songs message is really cool, I think. It just means don't give up no matter what. And whatever your going through, your not alone. That is a really comforting feeling. --------- Well thats all of my favorite Creed lyrics, and what they mean to me. Please post yours

Well every creed song has a different and beautiful meaning, and the lyrics are just amazing, but i have to agree with yours too.

CreedKevin, Wow, such an insightful post from such a young mind. With that kind of insight, I think you will do just fine with whatever life throws your way. You already seem to have a good head on your shoulders and that's a great start. Thanks for sharing.

Yes...I must say Creed's lyrics and music have given me so much. Creed is the reason why I fell in love with music. I must say the Creed song that means the most to me would be "What's this life for" because I've known a lot of people who have asked that question, including myself. My all time favorite Creed song though would have to be "Unforgiven." Good job with the lyrics...I enjoyed reading your insight!!! Rock on in 2003!!!

I think that is a wonderful perception of the lyrics. It sounds like you are a very responsible teen. To think it that frame of mind is very mature. I agree with Dogstar, you are gonna be A-OK with whatever life throws your way! Good Luck!

Ok cool....When I listen to a Creed song, it makes me think about how other people view it...so I think it would be cool to hear everyone's views of Stapp's lyrics.

CreedKevin.... Great insight! Yeah Creed lyrics are the main reason I love them so much. Torn, MOP and What if and Weathered are all some of my favorites. Here are some of my favorite lyrics to some songs;
TORN: Torn I am filthy, born in my own misery MOP: A lion roars in the darkness only he hold the key, a light to free from my burden and bring me life eternally One: I feel angry I feel helpless want to change the world, I fell violent I fell alone. Bullets: I laugh aloud cause my life has gotten into someone else's mind! Weathered: Maybe I can't accept the life that is mine. Simple living is my desperate cry. Me... I'm rusted and weathered barely holding together What If: Forked tongues in bitter mouths can drive a man to bleed from inside out Faceless Man: God the entire song!!!!! I could go on and on, thanks CreedKevin for making tonight a better night on the board!
