The BCS is so screwed up. If TCU would've won out, they should've been in a BCS bowl game. Related, I don't think Ohio St. #2. They certainly don't deserve it. They have barely eeked out most of their wins (2 OT, right?). Their offense is downright pitiful. If anyone should be #2, it's either USC or LSU. Aside from Oklahoma, LSU is perhaps the best on both sides of the ball (USC's O is phenomenal, but their D doesn't measure up to LSU's). I'm sure Ohio St. would get crushed against the Tigers. It's my hope that Michigan absolutely crushes Ohio St. tomorrow so as to do the BCS system a little bit of justice. It bothers me that "a win is a win"--you should drop in the polls if you don't pull out a quality win, either against a ranked OR unranked team.

But there are plenty of other teams that played only "nobodies" that didn't manage to go undefeated for 10 games. I haven't followed 'em too closely, but if you're undefeated, regardless of whom you play, it's still quite an accomplishment. Without the BCS, they'd get sent to some crappety-ass bowl in New Mexico or Canada or something. Then we really wouldn't see how they stack up against the big boys.

nah, if youre undefeated and play good teams, like oklahoma, then you deserve the BCS, but if youre undefeated playing nobodies, then congrats, but you dont get BSC. teams with 1 or 2 losses deserve BSC bowls more than TCU. if TCU played UGA, they would get killed! teams like TCU cant compete with the powerhouses.

you can speculate that TCU would get killed, but I believe it was either week 4 or 5 in which we saw quite a few upsets of ranked, major schools by unranked, mid-major schools (Miami-OH, Northern IL, Bowling Green, Toledo). Preseason TCU was ranked 25th in the nation, ahead of such perennial powers as Nebraska, Florida, and Alabama so it's not as though they came from nowhere. But they certainly did better than expected (until this past weekend), so why not reward them w/ a BCS berth? What you are saying, faceless, is exactly the problem most people have with the BCS: it unfairly gives the major conferences preference in selecting BCS bowl assignments. Some mid-major schools are every bit as good, if not better than many. After all, remember, in week 2, we saw preseason #15 Maryland fall to unranked mid-major Northern Illinois?

yeah, but was maryland projected to go the Sugar Bowl? no. first of all, what ppl dont know about BCS bowl games is that theyre for the major conference: Sugar-ACC champs vs SEC champs, Rose-Pac-10 champ vs. Big 10 champs, and so on. since TCU isnt in a major conference, they cannot get an automatic bid to the bowl, they can only recieve an invitation, and this is where they would get screwed, the BSC ppl would be like, although TCU was undefeated (if it did happen) there are other teams that deserve a BCS bowl more. Florida State has 2 loses, but if they win out they will get a BCS bowl automatic. heck, last year they had 4 losses, and they still went to the Sugar bowl, you know why? they still won the ACC. if TCU wants some respect, they need to jion the big 12 and if they do they will get crushed. just imagine if TCU was #2 and was goin to play oklahoma in the Sugar bowl. can someone say raping?!

I understand that the BCS is designed for major conferences. That's what I (and many other critics) am saying is the problem: it doesn't give mid-major schools an equal chance. It needs to be reformed so that mid-major schools are rated more fairly. I'm not denying that Oklahoma would destroy TCU; but whom haven't the Sooners raped? Their closest W was in week 2 at a decent 'bama team (that has played one of the toughest schedules in the nation). Oklahoma is on a level way above anyone else. So why not compare how TCU would do against the likes of Texas, Georgia, Michigan, or Tennessee? There's only one way to do so: BCS bowl game. We'll see how they fare in the bowl game they get in, though.
