The U.N. can be ineffective. It's my opinion that the US should cease its involvement w/ this "governing body" or whatever the hell it is.
Oh, btw, did you read them stats? Touche!

It's a kitschy movie made about the same time as "It's a Wonderful Life" (in fact, it involves many of the same actors, and follows the basic plot-line). If anything, though, politics are less corrupt today than, say, during the later 1800s and until 30 or 40 years ago (I'm not exactly sure on those numbers). Political machines and bosses were very corrupt. They no longer exist today as we knew them. But what many people don't realize about these machines was that, in order to gain the great amounts of power they had, they often did great deals of good for the "common citizen", so as to garner their votes. And it worked.

Dude, you need to read some Taylor Cauldwell books and then come back to me with idealistic mantras.

I am very serious. Boss Tweed? Tammany Hall? The Pendergast Machine? The list goes on and on and on and on.... There were machines in every major city in the U.S. in that time period. Presidential scandals (in a time when the media was not highly involved in politics as they are today, Warren G. Harding's little Teapot Dome Scandal was found out... Ulysses Grant was surrounded by corrupt officials a good 50 years before Harding)--aside from Clinton, haven't seen many of them recently, eh? And with campaign finance reform, steps are being taken in a positive direction.

Is there any way in which you could enlighten me as to the nature of this author's writings? Just a brief synopsis so I can know what I'm dealing with.

Again, you can't be serious! How naive are you? I need a dropping-jaw icon.

Oh, I just noticed something. I can't use "ignorant", but "naïve" is okay?

Yes, becasue ignorant means that you don't know about the issues. And naive means that you do but refuse to believe that they are true.
