I met James Earl Jones when I was in 7th grade. He was in Southern West Virginia on the filming of a movie called "
Matewan." Matewan is a real place in West Virginia. The movie is about the true story of the uprising of coal miners in Matewan against the Coal mine owners back in the 1930's. Since the real Matewan no longer looks as it did back then the film makers had to find an alternative location. That location ended up in my hometown. Well, less than 5 miles from it in an old abandoned town called Thurmond right beside the New River. It was awesome to meet him. He looked so massive to me.... I was only in 7th grade after all. His deep, booming voice seemed to reverberate off of the mountains that day. It was cool. I have always been a fan.
