HIGHER POWER
MARK TREMONI AND MORELY TEAM UP TO CREATE THE POWER WAH

Considering that Creed have sold more than five million copies of their latest album Weathered , guitarist Mark Tremonti has very little to cry about. But that’s not to say he doesn’t need a good wah-wah now and then.

Teaming up with Morley, the guitarist has developed the Mark Tremonti Power Wah. Like the company’s popular Bad Horsie wah, the Power Wah uses Morley Electro-Optical, switchless design, which activates the wah only when the player’s foot is actually on the pedal. But the Power Wah has other features based on Tremonti' suggestions.

"I’ve used Morley Bad Horsie wah for years" says the guitarist. "I liked its tone and that it would turn off by itself when I wasn’t using it. But there were always a few things that I wanted to change and the Morley engineers helped me make that change."

Morley’s first act was to widen what the Tremonti calls the "Middle Sweet Spot.” the middle part of the pedals path makes up about 30 percent of my wah's sweep,” he says. "The added benefit of the widening out the middle area is that the sound doesn’t get quiet as thin at the top."

Tremonti's other modification is a boost knob that adds up to 20dB of wah volume for those times when you need to be really heard. "I mostly use the wah when I am soloing, so adding a boost feature seems natural," he says "it lets me cut through the mix"

For those that heed the Creed, the Mark Tremonti Power Wah is currently available through Morley dealers as a suggested retail price of $199.
