Yankees

alright... this poll was inspired by posts in the "The Band" forum
The Yankees: Love 'em or hate 'em?

RMadd 04-14-2004 11:56 PM

Fuck the Yankees and Steinbrenner's fucking pocketbook! He's ruining baseball, paying all these exorbitant salaries!

Higher_Desire 04-15-2004 01:17 AM

2 Words: Yankees suck.

H-D :nut:

Trees of Wisdom 04-15-2004 01:38 AM

The Yankees have no farm system. All they do is cash out on players.

Steve 04-15-2004 01:55 AM

Baseball needs a salary cap and stiff penalties for teams going over the cap.

facelessman 04-15-2004 02:17 AM

i dispise the yankees

Haha, Red Sox fan or not, we can all agree that the Yankees suck. :D

facelessman 04-15-2004 02:35 AM

im a braves fan...so many years of getting beaten by them in the world series. f those yankees

benkenobi 04-15-2004 06:46 AM

They've bought up everybody in the AL and still can't post a winning record in the first couple of weeks. With as much money as they're paying out compared to the rest of the league, they shouldn't go below a record of 152-10. I love seeing teams like the Marlins who don't have a payroll even comparable beat them in the World Series.

Steve 04-15-2004 11:43 AM

Yea, speaking of payrolls, remember I live in Milwaukee.... GO BREWERS!!!! :D

I love it how Tampa Bay is hanging w/ them thus far! Them Devil Rays are gonna surprise people this year... and if not this year, then the next... or the next.

Sincirr 04-15-2004 12:41 PM

I dunno, salary cap or not, rich owner or not, they havent won in years, so I dont get the retained hostility over that particular issue I guess.

Plus as far as I can see when I watch em play, they still have to work hard, even struggle during a game.

As far as I have witnessed, money or no money, they will just have to work hard like every other team, and the Marlins proved that it's got nothing to do with cash.
:yikes:
Please dont hurt me!

unfortunately, The Boss doesn't realize that. he seems to think when you lose a World Series to a team of lesser wealth, you just need to spend more!

I grew up loving the Brewers. My father used to take me to see them when they came to New York to play. What was the guys name with the really big mustache?

I live in New York, so unfortunately the Yankees are everywhere. I try to avoid them as much as possible. We have a really good minor league team (I think it's AAA) here, the Long Island Ducks (I think they're a Mets farm team :dunno:). Tickets are no more than $10.00. It's a great game to go to.

Professional ballplayers just make too much money. It's insane.

Sincirr 04-15-2004 12:56 PM

Yeh it is insane....but some of em.,,,theyre just so phenominal, ability-wise. Like, watching them is just like...woooh!

I find it really amazing that someone can earn sooooo bluddy much when all they do is finnish the last inning or so though. Mind boggling!

I enjoy seeing neighbourhood teams go at it though. It seems more...real...accessible/tangible when they play I guess.

The Red Sox have already taken the first two games of the series against the Yankees. I think the Angels, Red Sox, Cubs, and Phillies are the teams that will compete for the World Series title.

Dogstar 04-17-2004 06:55 PM

I LOVE IT....Schilling kicks ass!!!!

RMadd 04-17-2004 10:20 PM

I'm glad Boston's beaten 'em in the first 2... but it's still a long season
I hope the Cubs fuck up royally (naturally, b/c I'm a Cards' fan). In the NL, I'd say, at this point, Florida and Houston are the most likely contenders (the Cubs are just average without Mark Prior right now). Philly has a good team, but they've almost started off too slow. Looks like the Cards might be able to pack enough firepower each game to overcome their relatively weak pitching staff (relative to the Chubs and 'stros, that is). Let's hope MattyMo, Woody, and Co. come through this year!

The Cubs (NL Central winners) are great with or without Prior. They still have a great rotation and awesome hitting lineup. The Cards have really weak pitching. Jason Isringhausen is off to a slow start. I doubt the Cards will make the playoffs. The Phillies (NL East winners) are starting to hit now. Expect them to have a winning streak. Florida are off to a fast start, but they still have weak hitting. They need Pudge! Their starting pitching is all right. Hopefully they can get A.J. Burnett quickly. The Astros look good (NL Wildcard winners), but I am kind of worried about Octavio Dotel.
