Wylde-Tremonti 11-16-2003 02:57 PM

I've seen it standard w/ a capo on the 1st fret...i've also seen it in "open B-flat" so what is it really?

Wylde-Tremonti 11-16-2003 02:59 PM

nm...i found it in Open D5..... that's gotta be the right one...

Wylde-Tremonti 11-16-2003 03:21 PM

ok...i get it.... open B-flat is like open D5 bet w/ a capo at the 1st...

facelessman 11-16-2003 09:30 PM

i think its open- D

Marty 11-17-2003 09:00 AM

This is the correct tuning: F Bb F Bb D F

How to tune:

e --> Up 1 semitone to F
B --> Up 3 semitones to D
G --> Up 3 semitones to Bb
D --> Up 3 semitones to F
A --> Up 1 semitone to Bb
E --> Up 1 semitone to F

oh well, yeah

Marty 11-17-2003 09:52 PM

I hope that helps. :) I'm not sure what you call that tuning, but its not Open D or Open D5. Open D is used for Stand Here With Me, and Open D5 is used for My Sacrifice and Faceless Man.

well...accually.....the only song Mark Plays in D5 or Open D live is Faceless man...i believe...the others he converts them to Drop D or sumthin....

facelessman 11-18-2003 12:28 AM

D5 is used for Weathered, too, and signs i think. why would he convert them to drop-d?

No he doesn't. He plays My Sacrifice, Weathered in Open D5 too, Stand Here With Me in Open D. Hide in Open Bb.

Here's my tab of Hide:

I know for a fact that he doesn't use Open D5 for My Sacrifice live!!!!!!! THE KEY WORD BEING LIVE
i know because i've watched him.... i've seen live stuff from when they played on the thanksgiving halftime show... Olympics...SNL...ETC.... PLUS....the only guitar he tunes to OpenD5 live is his Dark-Cherry Quilt Top Tremonti Model....

1. I've seen live stuff. I made my tab of it from live stuff. If you don't believe me, I can make a screenshot of him playing octave chords in Open D5 in My Sacrifice.
2. Mark did not play My Sacrifice in Open D5 only in the Halftime show, when he played the whole medley in Dropped D.
3. Mark brings about 10 guitars on the road with him...there are enough for at least 2 guitars in Open D5.
4. Listen to the live version of My Sacrifice, notice that Mark picks a lot of the open D strings in the clean interlude...You can also hear him pick open strings in Stand Here With Me in Open D tuning.
5. Why would he write and record the songs in Open D5 and convert to Drop D anyway? It's EASIER to play those songs in Open D5.

facelessman 11-20-2003 10:18 PM

hmm i cant think of a Creed song in D5 that can be played in drop-D

tremonti.net 11-21-2003 01:17 AM

You could play Open D5 songs in Dropped D, it would sound different and less open though. And of course, it'd be played differently....

of course, so why would someone go and do that. its ludacrist

Wylde-Tremonti 11-23-2003 01:40 PM

well....if you play it acoustically....it's a bitch cuz when you tune up the B and G they easily break...same for heavier Guaged strings.....i imagine mark must have like 9's on the guitars he uses for D5 Etc....

facelessman 11-23-2003 11:53 PM

why would he do that? there arent even 9 Creed songs in D5. once again, ludacrist, its ludacrist i tell ya!

Mr.Anderson 12-04-2003 01:37 AM

It's not even worth trying these songs unless you have a lot of money for strings. If you have a standard set your not going to get anywhere near it, you'll be snapping strings like nuts. Even if you go slightly heavier your going to snapping on the bends and such. Its not worth it.

facelessman 12-04-2003 12:21 PM

my string dont break when i tune to D5.
